TOPIC: Meet at the Inn

Re: Meet at the Inn 11 years 4 months ago #241

Kryndal's lip curls in disgust, and he brings his longbow to bear on Strahd, ready to fire.

"Shall we continue with the 'entertainment,' then?"

My lute is playing and my dancing sword interposes itself between the vampire and Ireena. The sword strikes from the air (to hit 12+1+2 damage if any 7+10 undead bane). (I approach and slash at the vampire with sword in hand (to hit 8+1+8 damage 5+6+10 undead bane)

(I treat the dancing sword without my strength bonuses unless I'm holding it in my hand, but I do give it the undead bane bonus because it is a part of my mithral aura--unless you rule otherwise).

As soon as Kryndal sees Widseth attacking, he lets loose his arrow--aimed at Strahd's black heart.

(Attack roll 15+8=23, +22 damage with Mighty Longbow)

I slip between my comrades, incidentally popping one of my wooden daggers into my hand and throwing it sidearm at the Strahd.

Attack: (Roll 17) + 11, Damage (Roll 1) + 7

My path ends in front of the door Strahd closed.

(Is the bolt mechanical with a key, or simple slide action? Is the door tightly fitted and inset to the frame, or is there some kind of gap).

"I wonder how he got in here?" I say as I fish out a set of narrow yet sturdy wires, "I thought vampires couldn't enter a private structure without an invitation of one authorized to do so..."

"You aren't here to fight, are you?" Cram asks, wiping lupine blood from his sword. "What do you want, then?"

He makes his way between the girl and the Lord.

Seeing that the others have attacked, Breon gathers the mystical energy around him, focuses on the vampire, and yells, "Arcanes Pessulum vis!"

(Magic Missile - 12 dam)

(OOC - I believe he said to assume all tests would be successful.)

I place myself ready to attack but know that such a creature would not confront us so without something in the way of protections. I hold until the next round.

"So you are Strahd." I say, "I understand now why she spurned you. Your evil exudes from your very being and would be repellent to any person of good conscious. I have found more often than not that the evil existed long before the curse in creatures like you."

(OOC sorry for taking so long to post back, was AFK at a movie marathon yesterday)

You do so, the count seems to take little notice of your movement as he takes stock of your group.

bpsymington wrote: "Count Strahd," Breon says with a cold look, "This is an unexpected pleasure. We were planning on visiting you in the morning."

"By all means" Says the vampire smiling sadistically as he surges towards you slamming an open palm into your chest and throwing you back against the wall with his unearthly speed (roll 18+9 dmg 2+6).

The dancing sword strikes the vampire interrupting his attack and causing him to recoils as the magic of the blade sears his flesh. The vampire recovers quickly though plucking the dancing sword from the air by the hilt. The sacred metal of the blade begins to burn the instant it touches the demons flesh scarring the counts hand with holy fire as he fights against the magic animating the blade and with a feat of truly inhuman strength rams the blade through a table trapping it. As you strike him with your second blade drawing the vampires full attention.

Recovering quickly you quickly from the counts initial blow you loose your arrow striking the count center mass. He responds by snapping off the arrow where it protrudes from his chest and striking at Widseth with the broken shaft (roll 1+9 crit failure) but the blow is deflected by your armor.

Your throw is good but the vampire detects the movement of the blade through the air and brushes it aside before it can impact his heart.

The door seems mechanically bolted from the other side with a simple slide latch. You could likely work it open without to much trouble if you had a few minutes.

"This was my fathers house and he is dead" replies Ismark as he positions himself to guard your work.

He makes his way between the girl and the Lord.

"Perceptive Barbarian, in truth I came for the girl but I have found something far more valuable" The vampire laughs snapping his fingers as the room explodes in a shower of flames (OOC Strahd cast fireball 20 damage all Dc 12 reflex for half).

Recognizing the vampires theatrics for the magics they are you respond in kind lashing out at him with bolts of magic and interrupting any further caster on his part.

Pelor answers your prayers and the room explodes with light as his power burns through you forcing the vampire to retreat. In all your years you have never felt your gods strength come so fervently when called, in truth the majesty of if frightens you. When your vision clears both the vampire and the girl are gone. Ismark is frantic running about the room screaming her name but there is no time for that now. Thanks to the abundance of fire magics released here the building you now occupy is engulfed in flames.

((Roll 16) + 23 Reflex = 39) KRoSE means no damage, as would SRoEC (and what a waste of a good roll))

I keep working on getting the door.

Roll 11+15 for 26 Also have KRoSE so no damage.

Delmar walks towards the last spot that the vampire occupied seemingly paying no mind to the shower of flames around him. "I have met his kind before although none who radiated such evil. Nothing we could have done here would have stopped him. He is too cunning for that. He will only stand and face us when he is sure of winning."
