2028 Ultra Rare Token Images v4 2 hours 17 minutes ago #1

Thank you all for the very good feedback on the Ultra Rares. Changes have been made on the following:

Mark of the Pathsworn - A change has also been make to the Mark of the Pathsworn to give Rangers a little Underdark fun...of a character who shall not be named. I took away the Astral Panther thing from the stories, so I added in the dual-wielding fun.

Mark IV Cognard Armor - better defined the effect
Runestone Fitting Base - took the place of the Bead of Utility which was too confusing
Chuck's Training Tunic - lessened the penalty
Archibald's Surety Stone- added in restrictions about Pudnort and the Shadowskin Cloak

Thanks for your thoughts!

I'm not sure I understand the text in parenthesis on runestone fitting base.

( Use at start, but may be used again )

What does may be used again mean/refer to in this context? Can we switch runestones in the dungeon?

From TokenDB for the older versions of the Runestone Fitting Base:

This item allows one Rare runestone to be affixed to a single weapon, thus allowing that runestone’s power to take effect when that specific weapon is wielded.

A Runestone Fitting Base allows a character to benefit from the same Rare runestone more than once, so long as the player turns in the appropriate number of runestones before the adventure. E.g., if a player turned in two Venom Runestones and used one Runestone Fitting Base, all the hits made by the melee weapon the base was attached to would deal +2 Poison damage. If that player attacked with a different melee weapon, it would only deal +1 Poison damage.

A single character may equip up to two Runestone Fitting Bases. They may both be attached to the same weapon or to two different weapons.

Runestones are single use items that are turned in to the coach prior to starting an adventure. The effects get added to your overall stats. One runestone may be used per adventure. However, up to two additional Rare runestones can be attached to one weapon (or one runestone each on two different weapons) if the player possesses a Runestone Fitting Base (one per additional runestone) and presents it at the beginning of the adventure with the additional Rare runestone(s) of choice. Attaching the Rare runestone still requires the player to turn in the Rare runestone token, but the Runestone Fitting Base token is not turned in.

For Runestone Fitting Base, if a runestone has a negative effect in addition to the bonus, and the runestone is affixed to a weapon (or two to the weapon or one to each of two different weapons), how is the negative effect calculated? For example, the 2027 Rot Runestone is +1 acid damage with melee and missile attacks, but -2 to HP. Without the Runestone Fitting Base, using the Rot Runestone adds the +1 damage regardless of weapon and the -2 HP is applied at the start. But what if this runestone is also attached to a weapon with the Runestone Fitting Base. Is another -2 HP applied at start? Usually the weapon-based runestones only take effect when that specific weapon is used but here that doesn't seem to work.

I believe it’s referring the the fact runestone fitting base is not turned in because they are reused form game to game while the runestones are turned in.

Also while reading the database entry I realized that you can have two runestone fitting base on the same weapon. I thought it was one per weapon but was wrong.

For Chuck's Training Tunic, if a character has less than 10 HP, can its ability still be used? If so, am I correct that the HPs remain unchanged (for example, if used at 5 HP character stays at 5 HP) rather than resetting it to 10 HP?

I think this speaks to the fact this needs to be clarified because the UR runestone fitting base does not remove the need to turn in the runestones but that text made several people including myself think that because it's confusingly worded. Like the relic makes it really clear you don't turn them in but I think maybe this text is supposed to be informing us that you can use the same named runestone multiple times actually, which doesn't come through clearly to me.

That’s fair, but it’s the problem with a token that has so much rules that will not fit on the token. Maybe the token should get rid of Use at start, but may be used again and replace it with see tokendb.com/

"Ranger: May equip any Pathsworn Scimitar in off-hand"

Ranger offhand normally has to be usable by both Ranger and Rogue. So the intent is Rangers can equip Pathsworn Scimitars even though they aren't usable by Rogues?

Assuming so, I would change the wording to "in melee off-hand" just so nobody tries to put it in their Ranged Offhand.
