TOPIC: Can we have a way to mulch light blues

Can we have a way to mulch light blues 1 month 2 weeks ago #1

I wondered if there might be a way in the near future to mulch some of the light blue 3/4 star transmutes. Not sure what they would turn into in trade goods. Interested in what others might think. Even if it goes into like and Omni Orb/Cube, it could be helpful to clear out backlogs. Just thought I'd see if there were any legs to something like this.

I’m using them more and more often in my gift bags for new players.

I like this idea. Maybe 10 could replace an UR in one of those recipies?

Hard to say what would be the right breakdown on these. Distilled healing was typically 11 points of common healing spells to make so in that case less than an alchemist ink, it looks like some take 2 or 3 trade goods.

On the other hand 4 stars can take quite the resource sometimes.

Censer of Divine Aid takes
any Common GP token
2× Alchemist’s Ink
2× Alchemist’s Parchment
5× Darkwood Plank
1× Enchanter’s Munition
5× Mystic Silk
5× Philosopher’s Stone
2× 1,000 GP Gold Bar
plus ONLY ONE of the following:
Fell Beast Blood
Hoar Beast Fang
Ice Wyrm Eye

Figuring a reasonable rate to trade in would be tricky. Personally I am not in favor a 3 star mulch item, but am open to the idea of a 4 star mulch item. In fairness I have not looked at a lot of 4 stars so it may be a bad idea once research is done.

Three 3* plus two 4* for an Elven Bismuth.

Five 3* Plus four 4* for an Oil of Enchantment.

Only in effect for 2026.

+1 to this idea. Even if they count as 10pts towards any trade good or something.

Maybe count a certain number of 3* as a UR or a lesser amount of 4* as a UR.

I can also imagine a "detransmuter" situation as well (mainly at in person conventions) where a person can turn in a 3 or 4 star token and they can get do X pulls from the "detransmuter bowl" (another version of the completion chest but mainly containing ingredient tokens, with a few extra surprise tokens based on some unexpected results). X could be based on the number of stars (though that might need to be adjusted due to some tokens having incredibly easy recipes only needing 2 near common tokens, which would most likely break the system). Although there could be tokens (that could be transmuted) which could allow more pulls as well.

Some aspects of this I can see working, though I can see it being a bit too random as well. Happy to take any constructive criticism on how to improve.

Definitely a good idea. Even with giving blues to new players, I end up with dozens of extras added to my heaps of tokens every year. They have virtually no resale value (usually.) I would be open to something as simoke as a 3 point exchange for a couple trade 1’s and a 4 point for any trade 2.
What do we want? Evidence based science! When do we want it? After peer review!

Honestly I think every light blue except potions should be able for 1 treasure draw. Can only be done in person, it's simple gives the people with them something to do besides just handing them out to newbies while not being so over the top that it's going to cause weirdness.

I like the idea of a treasure chip exchange for the light blues, but 1 draw isn't enough. One treasure draw is highly likely to end up an uncommon or rare which leaves you worse off. I think a 3 star should be 3 treasure chips and a 4 star 10 treasure chips.

Also, I'd support the idea of allowing these to be transmuted for a certain number of Trade 1 or Trade 2 tokens.

Allowing them to substitute for URs in any recipes calling for any UR (2018 or later) would work as well.

In short, anything that would help making the excess light blues useful would be welcomed.

3 star and 4 star chips aren't always valued at those numbers. I think a treasure pull is valued (in the secondary market, mind you) at around $3.00, so the 3-star is closest to that in secondary market price (varying from $1.50 to "special" 3 stars that run much higher). 4-stars are hovering around $7-8, so you'd be looking at 3 draws instead of 10 (assuming you are considering the secondary market).

The trading for a single draw takes something you wouldn't have been able to transmute and get an UC/R which is able to convert to TGs, so you'd be at a potential net gain (I'm assuming people wouldn't want to transmute "valuable" tokens like Silver Ships in this way).

Substituting for URs in recipes would lend themselves more to Omni Orb conversions (to keep things simpler) but at what conversion rate? 6x URs for a single one is roughly $300 in PYPs, so 3-star/4-star equivalent would be 100 or so tokens for an Omni Orb (roughly? I think?)

I think the treasure draw is the most "random chance" and not really putting secondary market value on draws, but what that conversion rate that people would think is "fair" would still be up in the air.
