Thanks for your patience -- and subsequent feedback. This took quite a while, and I will need your good feedback after such a big change.

Here is the big update as promised. I went back to the drawingboard with the plan to just reset everything to closely mirror how multi-year tokens were done during the last Ring Con cycle. So...that is what I have done. I also took the time to craft all the token images so you will know exactly what is coming over the next three years (thus, also giving out some hints...). Kudos to Impy, Dave G and Matt Hawyard for their help here!

The BIG graphic should make a lot of sense now -- especially if you are familiar with how things went during the multi-year cycle ending this year. Please let me know if you have any questions.

NOTE: Lots of the Token Notes PDF FAQ text has been updated, so please read pages 2-3 first before asking any questions. It would be much appreciated.

I think these are all amazing and I don't see anything I would want to change. Laying it all out like this is very helpful for long term planning.

In 2029, I think my dreams may come true: Dragon! It was only my second year playing when Smoak destroyed me. I knew nothing back then, so 20 years of experience has me very excited for another chance. 2028 looks to be something with spiders and mushrooms. Deeperdark? Very exciting!

My initial thoughts

3 years is short turn around for a multi year - we saw this with the Kilt of Dungeonbane. That year the kilt had extra fleece tossed into the transmute and it still ended up being produced in extreme quantities. There are 6(!!) 3 years all listed. That's going to be one heck of a TG crunch and a big power spike all at once.

2 Arcanum set items in parallel to be completed at the same 3 year time span is not my favorite either. If one is going to act as a ticket for the next TD convention in Carbondale, why not let the other be 4 or 5 years long to ease the TG crunch and spread out how fast Aracanum items accumulate.

I see 2 familiars in a new slot? What is special about familiars that they need their own slot? Why not simplify things by using the FoP slot or Spirit Pet slot?

If I follow the "any 4" logic, that means that 4 codexes can be transmuted to make 1 familiar. At the same time, the codexs all grant +2 to an attribute. I feel like that implies we should get 2 - one for the attribute bonus and one to transmute.

I'm a little concerned about the Homunculus from a chaser standpoint, depending on the exact details of the ratio of chaser bits in treasure. These will be SUPER in demand for 6th level cards if it's the only way to get 6th level. I'd almost recommend making 6th level a bonus option if you are equipping 5 piece eldrich or 5 piece arcanum + another level booster.

My suggestions, if you're looking for suggested changes, here are mine in roughly the order of priority I see:

1) Spread out the transmute windows. Ex:
-Let the Arcanum Ioun Stone be the ticket to TD Con 2029 and the codexes be the special event tickets to TD Con 2029. Keep these at 3 years.

-Let the 2k multi year and Monster Bit tokens be 4 years. This can still make the the same transmutes, but now they don't line up with the Arcanum Ioun stone.

-let the UR transmute be 5 years. This can still make an Arcanum Mask, and you could even slightly juice the power or make it more like the arcanum shirt (+2 str, dex, con, focus, and something else).

2) Drop the +2 attribute on the codexs OR create the tome slot (and retroactively add tomes like has been discussed before).
If you're allowing for flexibility in transmute, IMO, they don't need slotless powers.

3) Cat items:
- The shirt and gloves aren't all that great compared to a UR in a set. For example, the Cat's shirt is one of multiple "if you die" items, and those generally don't tend to be that powerful or in demand (see also, butterfly cloak). This could, instead, be a slight increase to one of the Arcanum shirt ingredients, such as a flat +3 str shirt

-Expanded crit range on the melee gloves can be nice, but who is the target audience? 19-20 crit range for melee is pretty common at this point for classes that want it. If we stick with the theme of slightly upgrading an old token, AND it's going to be cat related, Maybe just tweak Gloves of the Cutpurse and make it a flat +5 dex?

Oh, I do have 2 thoughts after staring at these awesome tokens:

1. Should the Mask of Easy Boon be +4 to one ability score and -1 to saves? It seems the theme of masks are they offer something cool but with a drawback? Also, it sort of cancels out by equipping the Acanum Ioun Stone anyway.

2. I know the Codex benefit is to help with token sales on auctions, so that they do something. Since they represent knowledge, what about instead of Strength/Dex/Con they were Intelligence/Wisdom/Charisma? Maybe a bump in those stats is not a big sell though, so I don't know. Just something to ponder.

I agree this is a lot happening at once. I would also urge two of the items go to a 4/5 scale. 2029 Con with a Token required for Entrance can still happen even if all the future items are not yet available.

Think the easiest way to do that is shift the UR and Monster Bits over to a 4 year cycle.

Shifts away from a massive power spike and Trade Good Shortage all in 1 year.

Not loving the 2K rewards if the goal is to make them usable in their current form. If they're just flavorful components to a Familiar, it saves me from getting multiples to use down the road, as I can't really see any of them getting used much at all. Of the 3, boots might see play. Plenty of effects like the Shirt that are currently out thay don't see much in the way of play, and anyone wanting an increased crit range in melee have access to a +3 Slayer sword or a Turkey Leg, so don't see much need for that piece, either.

Hey Jeff,

I like the changes to the UR and Premium, keeping the Arcanum sets from shifting to the 2K level. I also like the 2K set being more in line with the Mark multi-year, giving us a simple Familiar, and the 8K giving us a custom familiar.

From a copy-edit standpoint, the Arcanum Ioun Stone should have a unique name, and should not have a relic star, since it would be considered a Grand Arcanum and not an Arcanum Relic like the Mask. It is also a bit concerning that the Grand sets are now getting lowered even below the timelenght for the relic set pieces. We went from 7 (Rod), 7 (Skull), 5 (Ring), to now 3 for the IS. If the intent is to have a 2029 event, maybe tie it to the relic arcanum and not the grand one, and give it a couple more years? I feel like the premium transmutes are going to be diminished to the Kilt level with such a short timeframe.

The Chaser sets still requiring 40 tokens and only being at Relic level doesn't feel great, especially as these relics are actually just reprints of URs. Especially if they need to go into a new Legendary recipe, that would mean 80 tokens each year to keep 1 and save one for transmute, for effectively a UR Pixie style reprint. If these are going to remain at UR/Relic level, then I would prefer they only require 20 chase platinums, or get bumped up a bit in power.

The Story Relic looks good to me at only 3 years, and the continuation of Patron getting a named token is nice, especially with the individual tokens now doing something individually.

TLDR: Concerns around Grand Arcanum naming and timelength, concerns around Chaser token rarity and collecting

Phil
