It’s Back!
We’ve tried this spreadsheet approach for patron events, and it seemed to work very well. So, we’re going to give it a shot for Ring Con.
What is it?
It’s a Google.doc spreadsheet where you select which timeslots you would like to run at Ring Con. The purpose is for people to declare which run they prefer and to have anyone they wish to run with add their name to the same timeslot. Then, when Ring Con registration goes live, people sign into TD.Events and purchase a ticket for the same run they selected in the spreadsheet.
If everyone does this, then registration will go very smoothly and there’s a lot less stress for all. Of course, there is always a risk. The spreadsheet is not binding. Someone who doesn’t come to the forum may innocently select a slot someone else wanted. Then that person needs to pick a new slot and the whole thing can unravel. But there’s hope! For the last couple of patron events, I’ve not heard of one person that didn’t get what they previously selected. And, at this point it really is our only option.
This spreadsheet is not a True Adventures’ product. But they are endorsing it as a way for the community to organize prior to January 10th-11th.
How does it Work?
• Use the link below to access the spreadsheet.
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pg7r4ZgbCandLnCBa4OCZ6SpiGgFXEtLh0NKu81jHuQ/edit?gid=725681596#gid=725681596
• Access the tab for the run you’re planning to do
o The Sacred Circle
o Fang & Fury
o True Grind: The Cracks of Doom
o The Sacred Path
o Golden Ticket Run
• Find a slot/run that is empty and enter the following
o Your name, forum name or any identifier that says it’s ‘you’
o Indicate with a “P” if you plan to have a patron code prior to registration. This tells people whether or not you plan to buy a ticket on January 10 or January 11.
o Select your preferred class. You can say “flexible” if you have options. This will tell people if someone already wants to play their preferred class and they can look for another option to avoid conflicts.
o Select your preferred difficulty level (DR). You can say “any” if it’s not important to you. This tells people that if someone picks Normal or Hardcore, they may want to look for another run if they want to play Nightmare or Epic.
o Repeat this process for each Event you plan to do at Ring Con.
Guidelines
Yeah, there’s no avoiding these. Please READ these and adhere. If you don’t, it’s going to ruin the accuracy of the spreadsheet and the experience for everyone.
• Select no more than 1 run per Event. My understanding is that the codes we receive for transmuting the Ring of the Sacred Circle will only allow us one run per Event. There should be plenty of tickets available to accommodate all attendees for one The Sacred Circle and one Fang & Fury Event. Based on how many extra tickets are left over, there will be a 2nd pass of registration on March 18. DO NOT select a 2nd run for the same event now. It will only tie up slots and it is highly unlikely that your 2nd request will be honored.
• True Grind: Cracks of Doom – Only select a slot for this Event if you plan to have a Patron code. There are only 100 available tickets. In prior years we’ve seen 80-90 patrons in the fall runs. At Skull Con there were 106 patrons. There is likely to be very few, if any, tickets left after the patrons buy theirs on January 10. If all slots are filled in the spreadsheet, then patrons will take whatever they want and the spreadsheet falls apart. And you still won’t get a ticket. Please don’t do this. This is one case where, if you’re not a patron, check TD.Events on January 11, and if anything is still available, you’ll want to grab it quickly.
• The Sacred Path – Only select a ticket for this Event if you plan to transmute for a Mark of Enlightenment prior to January registration. No one is going to hold a slot for you if you plan to transmute for this in February. You are still guaranteed a slot, but this spreadsheet is really only good through January 11. Once tickets go on sale, the only accurate place to find what’s available is in TD.Events. That will pretty much make this spreadsheet obsolete.
• Golden Ticket – It’s there, but Golden Ticket registration begins on October 6. This spreadsheet really becomes obsolete after that day and people will just need to pick from what’s left in TD.Events.
• Plan to buy your ticket as close to when sales open. I do believe a majority of the community will try to “stick to the plan” as indicated on the spreadsheet. But the longer you wait, the higher the risk that what you want will be gone.
Any other questions? Please feel free to ask, either in this thread or you can send me a message. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll find someone who does.
