Introducing Condensed Treasure

We here at TD HQ have been trying to think of ways to streamline the transmuting process so it reduces waste and transmuting headaches. So, we would like to present to you the option of Condensed Treasure! This is an experiment we will be running this Spring VTD season to see:

1) How well received and widely used it would be by you all.
2) To see how this changes our logistics in practice. If both of these factors turn out well, we will consider making this a permanent option.

Sorry, at least for this first trial in January, this option is only available to those playing VTD AND with Max Treasure (27 Pulls). This limitation helps us keep the logistics simple for this experiment. We apologize to anyone who is interested in this but unable to use it due to this restriction. If Condensed Treasure experiment goes well in January, we might expand it out to allow more folks access.

What is Condensed Treasure?

Condensed Treasure is similar in design to Super Condensed Token Packs. We transmute the Uncommon and Rare tokens you would have drawn into their respective Trade Goods. With the help of some TD Forumites (Impy and Kirk) we have carefully run the math to insure the proper 2026 ratios are used.

The Condensed Treasure Mix is calculated that each Condensed Treasure Pull is worth 2.876 Standard Treasure Pulls. This means that 10 Condensed Treasure is worth 28.76 Normal Treasure Pulls.

For example, if over the course of the year you amassed 1000 Condensed Treasure Pulls you will have received an identical number of Monster Bits, Chase Tokens, URs, Relics, Legendaries, and other items as someone who had 2876 Treasure Pulls, along with an identical number of trade goods equal to if you had sent in every single Standard Pack Uncommon and Rare for Mulching at the end of the year.

The Trade Good portion of the treasure mix is made in an identical ratio of this year's Uncommons and Rares Trade Good value. Thus, the trade goods you receive will be identical in proportion of each trade good to as if you had been sending in the Standard Pack Uncommons and Rares from the Treasure Mix for mulching.

This is all to say this mix is calculated in such a way there should be ZERO % dilution in treasure value when compared to the normal mix.

How Does It Work?

If you use Condensed Treasure and you are eligible for 27 treasure draws, you'll elect to "condense" your 27 Standard Treasure Pulls into 10 Condensed Treasure Pulls. You will do this during your VTD Epilogue after your adventure. Again, only players who get make the maximum treasure of 27 are eligible for this option. In January at least, you cannot combine earned Treasure Chips from two or three VTD adventures to obtain this 27 total.

Note: You will effectively be getting 1.76 bonus token draws for using this option as our calculations show that it would normally take 28.76 Treasure Chips to earn 10 Condensed Treasure draws. The stack of 10 Condensed Treasure will arrive shrink-wrapped in a colored sleeve of 10 tokens.

This is a thank you for helping us to reduce waste and transmuting work at TD HQ. We can better use this time to make more adventures for you.

Will condensed treasure have _no_ current year standard pack uncommons and rares?

Or will it have a reduced rate of these with some replaced by the relevant trade goods?

It will have _no_ standard pack uncommons or rares. They are all replaced with a equivalent amount of trade goods. Treasure box only UC/Rares will still be in the mix as I understand it

Occasionally non-standard pack uncommons and rares are included in treasure, such as:

* Greaves
* Things like Charms of Transmorph / Relic Map Fragment / etc.
* Completion tokens

All this stuff: tokendb.com/source/treasure-chest/

Will those be included in the condensed treasure at the same rate under the heading of "chase tokens"?

From this description Condensed Treasure's UC and Rare tokens will be replaced so that the frequency by transmute category (e.g. Alchemist Ink, or GP) of the UC and Rares in the treasure mix matches the year's Standard Packs.

Is that also sure to be the actual frequency of UC and Rare tokes in the uncondensed treasure?

I had the impression that in years past UC and Rare tokens sent back to TD headquarters as transmutes made their way into the treasure mix.
* In that case the UC and Rares in the treasure mix would be unlikely to match that of standard packs.
* (For instance because people hold onto AI items to use while they transmute all their EB).

I think it's OK if the condensed treasure trade good replacement rates match that of ideal distributions of standard 10 packs; even if the actual treasure mix doesn't.

But either way I think it should be clear if the distributions between trade items in the condensed treasure will match that of corresponding UC/R trade categories in the standard treasure.

I'm happy to give this a try. I look forward to not having to send in mulch as often after every two/three VTDs, but I will be curious how I perceive my own "value" of condensed treasure. I can see myself THINKING I received more OE/EB eligible tokens in non-condensed and coming up with no OE/EB in my condensed treasure, so I'll just have to remember the whole law of averages and hope it all works out because no matter what, it's a crap shoot with what I'd end up with.

I order tickets for several people, some of whom are not yet sixth level. Are the people receiving 27 tokens eligible for this despite having a shipment being bundled with those only receiving 26? Or must all people associated with an order be receiving 27?

Sorry if this is obvious from the post or if I'm overlooking something.

Will there be any sort of feedback form for those that give it a whirl? I'm foreseeing some feedback/feelings of:

Example: I "NEED" Mystic Silk and got 0...this option is horrible (not as objective) vs. "I got a pretty good selection of stuff but need more sample data to determine if I'd continue picking this option" (a little more objective)

I'd also be curious if the 27 draws could be a "point buy" system. Where Trade 1 goods are worth 5 points, and Trade 2 goods are worth 15 and I could select, say: 1x Trade 2 good, leaving me with 12 points, 2x Trade 1 goods, leaving me with 2 points which would be random draws. That way if people value a Trade 2 as "needed", they can select it at the cost of getting reduced treasure as a result.

Email from Lori offers additional details:

If you choose Condensed Treasure on your run, that information will be documented in Epilogue. They will put 0 - ZERO in the spot where a number is normally indicated for treasure and put 1 in "Special Actions" to indicate a selection of one Condensed Treasure. If a player holds multiple tickets (that are eligible for the Condensed Treasure option), the number of tickets choosing Condensed Treasure will be entered.

1. Thanks for being transparent about the details; this is really helpful.
2. I'm super excited to try this option!
