td.events/conventions/V19_GrunnelsHolidaySpecial/slots/22233

I have all 10 tickets and am looking for more players; post here with class preferences if you'd like to join! Cost is $148 each (for 2 tickets); I'll PM payment details once we have critical mass.

This will be an Epic difficulty, double down run (5 players holding 2 tickets each), assuming we can find 5 people crazy enough to do that. Come on TD community, don't let me down! :)

1. David Zych: Druid (CoA x4, CoS x5, HHL x2)
2. brian.d.olsen: Monk (CoA, CoAS, CoS, HHL, Goblet) {paid}
3. Endgame: Cleric/Ranger/Fighter/Dwarf (CoA x3, CoAS x3, HHL x3, Goblet x3) {paid}
4. Brandt Elster (wldthng842): Monk/Ranger/Barbarian/Wizard/Elf/Fighter/Dwarf {paid}
5. dave romanin: Wizard/Bard {paid}

Party totals (so far): CoA x8, CoAS x4 + CoS x6, HHL x6, Goblet x4

That makes a full party! So we have a Druid and Monk for sure, and at least one flexible. What should I play?

Hooray! I'm super excited for this run, thank you all for joining!

Dave R, what class/classes are you excited to play?

One possibility is Endgame as Ranger and wldthng842 as Barbarian for lots of smashy damage. OTOH +37 damage on Endgame's Cleric build is nothing to sneeze at, and Prayer can be really nice on epic -- especially if we don't end up with a Bard (yikes)!

edit: ooh, but I also have never witnessed the Sundering Cestus in action, and that could be fun too

If I play Cleric, I’ll use a hitchhiking ghost Shog + belt of the brave, a sun runestone, a decay runestone, and probably potions of zealot brew. My damage should be right around +45z

OK, I hear Dave R is interested in Wizard or Bard, so any of the following lineups would make sense to me:

Druid,Monk,Ranger,Barbarian,Bard (traditional DD smash party, Bard boosting +hit)

Druid,Monk,Cleric,Ranger/Barbarian,Wizard (Cleric boosting +hit albeit less than a Bard would, two healers, magic sizzles)

Druid,Monk,Fighter/Dwarf,Ranger/Barbarian,Wizard (Sundering Cestus boosting +hit, Druid can Tome=Bless once, need to ration MEC use with just one healer)

Druid,Monk,Cleric/Fighter/Dwarf,Ranger/Barbarian,Bard (lots of +hit! never a bad thing on Epic)

The one combo I wouldn't pick is Druid,Monk,Ranger,Barbarian,Wizard, because I for one will miss way too often on Epic if our only party buff is 1x Tome=Bless... :P other than that, go for whatever you'll have the most fun with!

What kind of Druid are you running? Sounds like Poly Druid? I’m leaning toward either Cleric or Dwarf, depending in part based on how much healing we think we need

Poly Druid, so I can basically spell-swap my entire card for out of combat healing:

(Right now it's just my standard poly build, but I'll probably make a few tweaks between now and then. Even before seeing the dungeon, I doubt RoQB is the best use of a slot in this context)

Ring of quick blessing swapped with ring of spell storing via skull power should be a pretty good generalist option. You can use my Iktomi’s if you like, since I won’t be playing Druid.

Party wise, it seems like Druid / Monk / Ranger / Bard / Cleric would be solid, but puts a lot of pressure on the Monk / Ranger for damage. I can play Dwarf or even Paladin if we want to use the cestus and add some protection against melee attacks, but it won’t dramatically increase party damage output.

Works for me! DD format also typically allows for dealing more damage simply by having time for more rounds, which also means sustaining more damage but we'll have plenty of healing for that. As long as the dungeon doesn't have one of those silly "you get only 3 rounds regardless of time" rooms.

Added Iktomi's, thanks!

If you're going Cleric, that theoretically makes my RoQB a better choice than it otherwise would have been (since I could afford to cast Freezing Orbs rather than needing to spell-swap them for healing), but it still has the drawback of slowing VTD down because TDCC can't sequence poly attack + damage spell into a single dice roller input. I'll wait and see if meta knowledge points in an obvious direction, but otherwise likely drop Glory:RoQB for something like Charm of Biting or Kraken that provides a lesser but baked-in benefit.
