TOPIC: New to VTD - Monk on Friday @ 5 PM

New to VTD - Monk on Friday @ 5 PM 1 year 4 months ago #1

Title says it all! I've never experienced a VTD run as of yet, and would like to join a group if at all possible (preferably after 4 PM CST on all days due to work), to avoid grabbing a random ticket, and perhaps chat with people familiar with the process.

If anyone has any tips, please feel free to share them! I already have my character on the app on my phone, though am curious how many of the actual tokens I'll have to show off (I have no TEs). Also, is webcam required?

Thanks a bunch, and hope you're all doing well after GenCon!

The webcam is mostly used for verifying Treasure Enhancers. So, if you don't need to show TEs, you will probably be fine without a webcam. (This is not official, but, based on experience, it seems likely to be fine.)

Alright, purchased a ticket for Friday at 5 PM, and set up Zoom/td.events stuff. Is there anything else that would be helpful to do?

Also, is anyone else on that run? I saw it was partially filled, and hopped in as a Monk.

Sounds like you are in good shape. The only thing I can think of is to make sure you have the most recent version of the app—an update was released recently. If you have auto-update on or updated it this week, you should be fine. Enjoy your first VTD!

Looks like it did need updating, and just got that taken care of. Thanks a bunch!

My only suggestion would be to practice a bit on the App, if you haven't already.
When you go to the VTD tab, you enter a generic dungeon room 0. There you can practice melee and ranged attacks, Getting familiar where the saves are and how to take damage and heal, where buffs for bardsong or Bless are.
When the real VTD starts there will be a zoom link, and then the coach gives a code to enter for real as well as the dice roller code.
But in the generic setting you are just practicing and familiarizing.

Welcome! Its a total blast!

I do see there's buttons for attacking, rolling/saves, and such, though I am curious about a couple more things:

-How do I use specific tokens such as a FoP: Reaver?
-What do I do if I was to use a potion/consumables? Is there somewhere on the app I track that?
-Do I track my own health, similar to IRL TD?

Just tell the DM that you are using Reaver.

Phone app has Consume, Boost, Bardsong at top. TDCC has buffs menu in middle of screen.

Worth looking over options as some of them are kind of important to not forget, like if you have conditional ignore 50% miss on incorporeal.

I use TDCC, where you enter damage through menu. Believe phone you just track your own damage.

I’m on a run on Friday 1700 CDT / 1800 EDT so I think we may be together. If you need any advice or would like to do a call and I can go over the VTD computer app we can do that. If not I can try to do this before the event starts.

Lovely! I can be available on Zoom a bit before the scheduled time if you want to go over things, if it's possible to chat and such on there. Do you know the others in the group, or is it all random? What are we thinking on difficulty?

I shall do my best to be a good Monk for you all!

we will go over difficulty when we are all grouped together and see who can do what. As far as getting on the call early, unfortunately that wont work. We cant all connect until the open the link to us and by that time it will be time to start setting up and preparing. If we want to link up before hand it would have to be a 1:1 call via zoom or via phone call which I can do if you want and go over things before the link is activated. If interested dont post information here but we can swap information in PM
