Please give me your feedback on the Volunteer (the top four) and Participation tokens for 2024. We have two sets of Participation tokens for 2024 -- one for VTD and one for in-person.

The VTD set (9 tokens) is based on the Psychic Powers rules, and all of them can be transmuted into a Relic Ring that will grant a certain Tier of Psychic Power.

The in-person set (6 tokens) is focused on the 6 Ability scores and those can be transmuted into a Charm that will help newer players have some Treasure Enhancing fun.

To be honest, I think the vols go broke with these. They are just too much like the other tokens available to differentiate

Does the charm TE and charm of treasure boosting work together?

These completion tokens look great. The transmute look very friendly for starting players.

Getting all of the completion tokens would be very tough, though. Doesn't that assume the player is travelling to every con?

At that point, would a starting player be able to reasonably craft one?

I don't want to give opinions on the volunteer tokens since I don't personally volunteer.

I love that there will be more ways for folks to get psionic abilities.

Stats on the volunteer beads feel a bit underwhelming for what is a very crowded slot. Perhaps add an additional +1 Dex to both the rare and the UR, but they might still be a miss. Maybe +2 (rare) and +3 (UR) to a stat of your choice.

Not sure there's much demand for a non-stacking Treasure Enhancer. Unless the goal is to bring in more volunteers who are very new to TD. I'd guess most existing Volunteers who actively play already have good treasure enhancers.

The psychic stuff is intriguing.

The top 4 are the Vol Tokens, the ones following unrelated to anything psychic are the in person that turn into the TE.

I really like the participation tokens a lot, and I love that they combine into a transmute. It's something that I didn't realize I wanted for years now! Hopefully it works as a way to get more casual players into the transmute game. Hopefully the recipes are lenient enough!

I also really like opening the psychic powers to more people with the tokens and transmutes. As someone who picked up a few cheap teeth, this makes me happy as another avenue to unlock that mechanic.

I'm also very glad that the participation tokens aren't more direct stat or damage boosts.

The in-person con bonuses seem good for the slot. I know some of these duplicate old volunteer charms, but I think that's fine in this case. It will also serve as a good introduction to the mental ability scores mattering.

In regards to the non-stacking treasure boost, I again hope the recipe isn't too onerous. Seems a good thing for a newer player who runs one of the rare treasure enhancers. Especially if it combos with the Charm of Treasure Boosting - which I hope it does!

Interesting ideas, I like the idea of a participation token transmute.

The volunteer items seem maybe a little underpowered, since Bead of the Hearty is arguably around or worse than Bead of the Master Ale Drinker, and earcuff is a highly contested slot.

For the in-person participation tokens, I wonder if instead of the ability scores disappearing on the transmute, if it gave +1 to all ability scores (plus the conditional 2 treasure), or if that would be too strong?

The psychic items for VTD seem interesting. Individually they're not anything to write home about, but the transmute could be interesting for some.

The completion/participation tokens look great!!! I like both of the transmutes, both are good ways to get players interested!

Ring of Psychic Mastery: I'd suggest changing the text to

"Grants Psychic Abilities up to Tier 6 (Tier may not be increased)"

. As it is right now I am worried someone would think they'd get only the tier 6 psychic ability. Also perhaps add a url to the top like transmutes so new players can find out what psychic is?

"truedungeon.com/psychic"

or something?

Volunteer Tokens: These seem quite a bit underpowered to me, especially when compared to the Charm of Summer and Charm of Winter. They're also in super competitive slots that may make it even harder for vols to trade them away. Maybe we could focus on other slots like Feet, Hands, Eyes, or Head?

I really like that those who missed the skull are going to have a way to get psychic powers but I’d propose making the transmute slotless, the skull will always be better (tier 7,8 powers, set bonus) but giving up a ring slot is a lot to be able to use a power 1/game even at rare level. For a transmute after 9 VTD runs I’d hate to see it outclassed by rare/4 point relic rings and never see play.

I also like the idea of all yearly VTD storyline transmutes being slotless so people continue to put them in their builds over the years and remember the storyline that made them.

Maybe it could be "+1 to any ability score; +2 Treasure (may not equip other TE)"

I think +1 to all scores would be a bit strong for a 4* charm. But that would preserve the benefit of +1 to a key score.

I agree with the sentiment that the Volunteer tokens seem weaker that other years.

I really like the idea of tying together completion tokens into newbie friendly transmutes.
