Since there doesnt seem to be a good place to put it, suggest vol token ideas that would make you want to volunteer more.

Also volunteer this year, you know you want to.

Personal suggestion volunteer Focus item. Or if you really want to drive numbers volunteer TE, perhaps a slotless nugget.

Please god no to a slotless TE token, that would be the biggest frenzy.

Could honestly reprint the 2022 tokens. Those don’t seem like many people will get them at all

While I share the initial visceral reaction to TEs, would a volunteer frenzy really be a bad thing?

It's not a frenzy of generating volunteers that's the fear.

It's that TEs are must haves and the distribution of volunteer tokens to non-volunteers isn't a particularly equitable process nor is the supply remotely high enough to meet demand.

For volunteer tokens this year, looks like massive discrepancy between supply and demand, and the introduction of another step in acquisition leads to tremendous inefficiencies. For instance, I would imagine the volunteer URs that have gone out so far this year would sell for far more if there wasn't this limited communication system that seems to be the primary method of transaction, if for instance (ignoring eBay fees) they were put up on eBay.

I shudder at the sheer amount of backlash that would be generated for a slotless TE (already a problem in itself) volunteer token. Not that volunteers don’t deserve nice things, but the people who can’t or won’t volunteer will be so loud you’ll want to stay off these forums for that entire year. I’d also expect the price to be like $500+ (especially if it stacked with all other TEs).

What if greaves were also volunteer space? What if greaves of focus, etc. were possibilities but only from volunteering?

That would be significant power creep from a slot that currently only has a very limited single element resistance.

Honest question time - for how many people does the vol token actually swing the balance from “not volunteering” to volunteering? My guess is the answer is not many. I’m not saying that Vols shouldn’t have nice things, but more that even a crazy op vol token may not change the vol numbers much.

Good token bad token doesn't really sway me but it has led to some feel bad situations for me.

The year i was frankly pissed was the year of tanzanite cube/sphere. The sphere felt like a slap in the face as that was the year the beryl prism got reprinted.

Pants of the panther also comes to mind as a lousy token that'll forever rot in my binder.

I'm of two minds when it comes to multiple vol tokens. I like that it encourages volunteering multiple times to get them all but it can also lead to some folks on the fence only volunteering for the 'good' token.

I'd rather see overall enhanced pick your benefit type point system as a reward for volunteering and at multiple cons.

For token wise this year i'd vote for a focus item and or something that could tie into a set bonus. I do like how the UR IS last year was an alternate component for IS elfstone shard and would like to see more of that. Where hey vols here's an alternate path to goodies as a thank you for giving up the time we do for events.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

Why is it everyone who starts a sentence with "I dont want vols to not have nice things" follows it with "but"

Most vols wont stop voling if a vol token is less then great, the folks who vol regularly are great. But ask yourself how many more people might jump on board if there was a really really desirable vol token to tempt them. Would it be enough for a third dungeon at gencon this year. Guess we'll never know.

Anyway back to brainstorming.

I think that if you offer a TE for volunteers, keep it at +1 treasure with some other benefit, like +1 saves or AC? Make it fit into a slot that forces choices, like a ring or even a back slot. I might be biased, as I try and volunteer at least once a year.

I don't think I'd like to see a Focus volunteer token as it limits the classes that can use a reward, but we have gotten a lot of regular stat bonuses over the years.

A high-value UR GP token for volunteers might be good middle ground between desirability and exclusivity.
