TOPIC: Thanks to everyone for a great Gen Con

Thanks to everyone for a great Gen Con 2 years 4 months ago #1

My group and I ran all 3 dungeons and we had a great time. Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers. Also thanks to Schwade and jedibcg for running with us.

If I had one complaint, it would be that most combat DMs would calculate the damage and who hit in their head, without announcing anything. Not sure about everyone else, but I would like to know how much damage I did. Isn't that why we try to make our characters more powerful? What do you think?

My pulls were not the greatest, I was hoping to for some tinker bits, but ended up not pulling a single one. My friend pulled 2 URs, other friend one UR and the Ring of 5th Circle. Here's my treasure breakdown.

4 10-packs and 72 pulls

27 common
25 uncommon
35 rare
15 monster bits
1 minotaur hide
6 500GP
1 150GP
1 100GP
1 50GP

Looking forward to next Gen Con, it's my favorite time of the year.

Thanks, everyone!

IMO seeing precise damage numbers for every attack is part of the fun of Virtual TD.

It's a lot harder in person, because DMs might do the math in different ways; I'm not a combat DM myself, but I've heard (for example) that many of them find it easier to add in bardsong all at once (multiplying by number of hits) rather than adding it to each individual hit. I'm sure there is also a little bit of mental rounding that goes on sometimes just to keep things moving fast, which as a player I 100% approve of.

Knowing whether you hit or missed is a different story; I definitely want to know that, but I feel like the DMs were doing a good job of announcing it. And from time to time I also heard many of them make qualitative observations like "max damage" or "very impressive hit" from class X.

Note that you can easily determine your own potential range of damage values; just look at the min vs max numbers printed on your weapon, plus your modifier from the party card, plus the bardsong bonus.

Yes, my AC is lower than the Wizard's. No regrets!
