This Fall we are going to whip up a cool video to introduce the campaign setting for 2022, so I don't want to spoil too much. However, I can tell you that there will be pirates, vikings and other "water" adjacent groups involved. There won't be any underwater adventuring (per se), but I do have something kind of cool in mind.

Anyway, feel free into include any sea-faring themed items you'd like to see. The Viking-types are known as Ravagers.

Eye patches, parrots, and peg legs seem like a natural addition.

Treasure chests. Lots of treasure chests. Filled with treasure we can plunder.
Anyways, you need people of intelligence on this sort of... mission... quest ... thing.

Golden Jewelry: pendants, charms, and tiaras featuring creepy motifs of the Deep Ones, Cthulhu, and Dagon.

And +1 to this!

But also a UR "Aquaman" Trident that grants the holder enhanced sea-combat abilities if used in melee... until it is thrown.

A Raven Banner, from the Viking Orkneyinga Saga. In game terms, it gives the whole party plusses to hit and damage but halves the bearer’s AC – an effect foes should sense when picking which party member to attack.

It can be a slotless item – at the Battle of Clontarf, after everybody else who’d flown the banner high for him had died and nobody else would take it up, Earl Sigurd took it off the banner-pole and tucked it under his cloak. He still fed the ravens shortly thereafter.

A very Viking magic item, which would appeal to some and be avoided by others.

Sound like fun.

Maybe we'll see blood beard the pirate again.

I also would not be adverced to another underwater adventure, but that may just be because 2011 was my first year and I found prepping for the very different environments a lot of fun.

I think in the spirit of water based ideas, we should consider a “merchant badge”...it’s a rare token worth 400GP at face value but it is also an ingredient for a special kind of transmute

20 DArkwood Plank
15 Mystic Silk
1 merchant badge
—> 1 elven bismuth

15 darkwood plank
20 mystic silk
1 merchant badge
—> 1 oil of enchantment

10 darkwood plank
10 mystic silk
1 Dwarven steel
1 Minotaur hide
1 merchant badge
—> 1 aragonite

3 merchant badges
—> 1 treasure pull token

Simple philosophy shipping lanes are a major combative thing in the water and a merchant badge to ship and trade goods...well its thematic

We also would see the low end trade items soaked up. For the player who doesn’t have tons of items to soak up, they have the GP but also the intrigue to see what else it does to find out the rich element of transmuting that is part of the game. The three for one is to keep value beyond just the GP but incent a player to go get two more for that 1 more draw.

Conceptually I agree, though I believe there would need to be some major rebalancing of those numbers. The first one alone is ~$30 ($30.45) worth of tokens being exchanged for a ~$10 ($9.78) token at current cut-throat market prices. The GP alone is worth $5.25.

I guess that is my whole thing. If you really want to unload what is frankly never going to be used in your current port (you have over 1000 darkwood planks and 1000 mystic silks), this is a way to get that soaked out albeit at a penalty. Maybe not as harsh as I have it, but it should be a loss of dollar value ultimately as just sitting there it would take months and months in my mind to unload that amount in auctions. (Just see current auction evaluations for that). You can sell ice in alaska...or you can move it to florida and sell it...it will just be melting much faster
