TOPIC: Transmuting at the GHC

I have never done transmuting at a convention, is the process the same as doing it through the mail? Pre-packaged baggies, labelled, etc?

Yes baggies with slips of paper for your own sanity and theirs. They have the printout with quantities usually on hand to make what is being transmuted. Best part is the ability to drop off a bucket rather than pack a mailer and the bucket comes back a few hours later and with the fewer tokens in it and sometimes the baggies. “Comes back” means you pick it up after they phone you.

Unless you have only a few transmutes, they sometimes do that on the spot.

In my experience, if you request your baggies back, they usually come back (unless they're getting worn out). The people doing the transmuting don't want to throw them out any more than you want to go buy more.

Note: the above is an observation only. I don't think that I've ever heard an official comment on the topic.

I’ll be working in transmutes again this year, and would be happy to return baggies if requested.

Have the hours for transmuting been announced anywhere? I haven't been able to find them. Will there be times for full time volunteers to drop off and pickup?
