To all those who have been to Origins before- are there any restaurants you would suggest checking out in particular?

Barley's. I eat there at least once every year since 2006.

Not from the area but I had a pretty nice meal at Mitchell's Steakhouse last year.

North Market is across the street from the convention center, and has a variety of eateries inside. Hot Chicken Takeover and Jeni's Ice Cream are a must for me every year.

BDs Mongolian Grill is a few streets away. Pack a bowl full of meat and veggies and they grill it for ya. I usually head downtown once a month or so for it myself.

Hello, I am an Ohio native and love Columbus. I would recomend Thurman's for burgers www.thethurmancafe.com
Or if you like German food & GIANT Cream puffs Schmidt's is a great place.
Www.schmidthaus.com Both places have been featured on Man vs food.
I will be doing 2 runs on Saturday with a 8 person group of mostly first timers

Barley's (across High St.) and North Market (behind Barley's) have already been mentioned and are both great. The North Market closes early, so if you want Jeni's ice cream after that, there is another one a few blocks North on High St. There are many higher-end places close-by and I hear they are all great. Sadly the Ram in the Short North closed, but there is another one up in Dublin (10-15 mile drive). Kooma Sushi (across High St. by the parking garage) is good. Say hi to Willie (a sushi chef). There are other great sushi places around Columbus, but not within close walking distance.

There is a free bus called CBUS which goes up and down High St. every 10-15 minutes from 3rd St. down to German Village & Brewery District. In German Village there is Thurman Cafe. I bet you can't eat the Thurmanator! 36 Oz. burger for $21. Be sure to write your name on the waiting list. I am not particularly a Schmidt’s Sausage Haus, but it is good for sausages. If you want great German food -- instead go to Valters (High St. & Stewart Ave. in German Village). There are many great Mexican restaurants around. Fuzzy Taco across High St. is good -- as is Local Cantina (one just a block North on High St. and another in German Village).
