TOPIC: Make-A-Wish ceremony

Make-A-Wish ceremony 5 years 4 months ago #1

My party was lucky enough to finish a run on Saturday evening. In addition to our normal rewards, we got to take part in the Make-A-Wish knighting ceremony for Drake Kiderlen. That was without a doubt the coolest thing that I have ever been a part of in True Dungeon. I haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere else on the forums, and I wanted to shine a light on a very special moment. This was so impactful and meaningful, not just for that child but for everyone that was lucky enough to be present. Hats off to Jeff and TPTB for putting it together.

Thank you.

I, too, got to take part in the ceremony. My party kneeled as he marched by with a giant smile on his face. My wife was almost in tears. It's definitely something I'll remember for years to come.

I was also part of the bowing crowd that lined the halls. It was super cool to see this being done.
I bowed to the Knight later on as well when I ran into him again. Good laughing and joining in all around.

i donated the run. I also made sure He was set up with a good group.
Jeff's daughter
Stu's son
My wife and daughter
Dave and his daughter
then Drake and his Family

He got the best 20 bag ever along with a drake's staff(it had his name on it)
from the moment I met him in lobby to the end, he was all smiles and would chat your ear off about TD and D&D

This sounds incredible. Everyone seems to have done everything they can to help fulfill this child's wish. I can't imagine it going any better.

Kudos to all of you who were involved. Things like this, and Fred's stroke auction, demonstrate over and over again just why the TD community is so great.

A huge "shout-out" and "Thank You" to volunteer Kim Lindgren for performing the ceremony with a whopping 48 seconds to prepare.

Awesome job!

All hail Sir Drake!
Slayer of Blackthorn and Protector of Greyhawk!

Easily my favorite gencon moment this year.

Followed by another "Ring of Engagement" and then the time I was turned into a horse by Pelor or Tehlu ..(can't remember)

What a great group of folks to be associated with.
