TOPIC: My Gen Con 2019 Experience

This year was:

• my 5th year at GenCon
• my 5th year playing True Dungeon
• my 1st year volunteering for True Dungeon

It's not a stretch to say that between my volunteer shifts and my own scheduled TD runs that the majority of my time at Gen Con was spent at Lucas Oil Stadium. I had an absolute blast, and hope to be able to volunteer again next year (and/or at another convention if I can wrangle up some extra PTO). The one thing I regret is only getting in 2 TD runs over the course of the weekend. I'm going to have to work on fixing that for next time.

Also, a shoutout to my 2 awesome roommates at the hotel. (FRIENDSHIP!) Since we were working opposite shifts I didn't get to interact with them for most of the con until Saturday night when we stayed up late playing games, telling stories, and generally talking about whatever came to mind. It was good times.

In previous years I just had my 1 or 2 runs and that was it, so I didn't really know anyone outside of my small group of friends. While volunteering I was able to start identifying and getting to know some of the "regulars" that are really involved in the entire TD experience. For someone that describes himself as VERY introverted, this feels like a pretty big deal to me. The last group that I was a Player Coach for on Saturday night was a 5-man crew from DDA, and just talking to them about TD while waiting for their run to begin was awesome.

Glad you had a good time! The TD community is a fantastic group of people, and getting to know both sides (vols and vets, and those that are both) only makes the experience even more awesome.

Happy to hear stuff like this! This was my first year at Gen Con and my first year doing anything TD related and the community has been amazing! There was a nice lady bard that came up to us and started telling us about her
Widseth’s Legendary Lute that she made after all these years. It was amazing just hearing her talk about some of her runs and how much work she had to do to finally get it.

Welcome to the forums! I'll just remind you that it's a short 7 hour drive from MO to Madison, Wisconsin in late October/early November.
