TOPIC: Transmute Items

New to TD, will there be a table or something where I can transmute items at GenCon?

As long as you are transmuting for Exalted, Enchanced, Relic, legendary and so on. There will not be transmuting for trade goods (bismuth, gold, Minotaur hide and so on).

So do they not do transmuting for trade goods at conventions? Can you only do that through the mail?

They don't do goods at Gen Con. They usually have done them at Origins and Game Hole con. It is just that have sooooo much stuff to bring to GC and so little space. If you have lots of trade goods then it is best to mail them in before Gen Con. If you only have a few you might be able to find someone that will trade you trade goods for your tokens at the same rate.

They did transmuting at Whos Yer Con this year, hopefully that will be an option next year also.

Wow, I was not expecting that, it's kind of deflating news. I was going to buy the 1k package with the idea I could transmute the tokens I don't want into ingredients at GenCon. But the mail sounds messy and less gratifying than doing the transactions in person. Rethinking that kind of investment now. 😕

Have you considered getting a Condensed Pack ?

Some token collectors don't want to spend a lot of time opening hundreds of 10-packs of tokens. They asked if we could make a condensed version available that would look like what 120 10-packs would look like AFTER the Common tokens were turned in for Trade tokens. Condensed packs save collectors the hassle of opening up all those 10-packs, sorting them, and then sending them off to be exchanged for Trade tokens

If buying a 1K pack, you might be able to get a "condensed" pack, with no commons and all the trade goods.

Note that this is definitely available during preorder, but may or may not be available now.

Not necessarily but in general yes. For example this year there is a 50 gold piece canteen which can be transmuted into the canteen of quaffing but is a common so you might actually get more by not doing a condensed pack so it’s up to you

^ that. Also, it's worth noting that if you're going for the 1k package condensed it also includes a canteen of quaffing so you wouldn't have to worry about losing out on that one. Basically, your bundle of 120 rares and 240 uncommons should be more than enough to outfit yourself and a few friends in better gear than you would have found in all those commons and thus saves you the time you would have spent sorting commons to ultimately transmute anyways.
