TOPIC: "Virtual" prearranged charm bank - interest?

"Virtual" prearranged charm bank - interest? 5 years 6 months ago #1

I've had what's probably a crazy idea. I've seen several people looking to trade Charms of Transmorph on the forums, and my charm bank did see some movement at Pax. Unfortunately, my Gen Con schedule prevents me from effectively running another bank on-site, so instead I'm proposing a "virtual" bank.

It'd work something like this: anyone interested sends me their haves and wants. Some time close to Gen Con, probably the weekend before, I'll compile all the info I have and come up with a list of trades. I'd then send everyone a list of other people to trade with.

There'd be a certain level of trust needed - it's likely that situations would come up where person A gives person B a charm, but doesn't get it back until they find person C, who got the one they needed from person B.

Any interest? Thoughts? Concerns? Improvements? I could expand this to Relic Recipe Fragments and monster bits as well, if there's interest.

charms, monster bits and relic recipe fragments would probably help. i plan at gen con just doing what i did at origins. i am going to hang out. if i have an extra of something we can trade. if not try someone else or try again later. it worked really well for me at Origins. not a bank like last gen con just trading extras i have. i know i helped complete a few sets and got a few done myself.

Yeah Sat evening at Origins several of us hung out by the entrance and did some trades to balance out bits and fragments.

This got me thinking though. Anyone else ever do a math trade on BGG? I have a couple times. I wonder what it would take to run one for TD with tokens. I guess that is similar to what you are proposing Andrew but more manual perhaps.
Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

I think a google doc like we do for the community ur trades would probably work decently. I had started one for CoT awhile back but we didn’t use it much. maybe there just isn’t that much desire. Informal trading might work best or pick a time and place on Saturday evening to just have people hang out and trade if they want....

I was thinking math trade too.

My issue is that right now I dont have needs or wants, but mid GC I will

Today I learned that math trades are a thing. That's pretty much exactly what I had in mind for this.

I'll leave this open for a while to see if there's any interest, but it looks like just trading in person is good enough.

This would be helpful I was going through tokens this week trying to find some to trade and it takes a lot of time to figure out the trade value of tokens.

I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at. I'm not assigning value to any tokens, I'm just trying to facilitate one-for-one trades within specific categories where the tokens are, by definition, equally valuable.
