Trying to budget ahead of time for everything, and I'm the one in our group to secures the event tickets for TD. Anyone have an idea of the cost for the event tickets will be this year? Going up beyond the $78 they were last year or holding the same?

I’m hoping they keep the price the same or only a small increase. I loved the dungeons this year, but I know that several long time players were priced out of the market.
I would also like TD to bring back a classic dungeon for gencon like last year as a more inexpensive option and something new for those of us that haven’t been playing that long.
I enjoyed viper pit last year but only did one run due to not being able to use TEs.

I'll be (relatively) happy if doesn't go past $80.

I would expect the prices would remain the same. I would guess that one year is not enough data to see how the market reacts to the uptick in price. Even though everything else in the world has gone up entertainment is sometimes tougher to justify for some people.

I think the most likely Con to see an increase of significance would be GenCon. It will continue to sell out, I suspect. But there is a tipping point on the horizon, price-wise, especially for first-time players.

2018 was my first year playing at Origins and GameHole Con - I am much less aware of the recent history of where the price has been there.

But the team does seem genuinely interested in keeping the price at a point where players can stay engaged.

Other threads have discussed other options for revenue: token prices, specialty token prices, etc.

TL;DR version: dunno. Maybe a little increase at GenCon?

Of course no one knows, but I can't recall a year where there was NOT a price increase.

It also isn't realistic to not expect one. Materials cost more, staff want raises, contracts expire and need to be updated.

I agree it would be nice to keep prices at 79 and 59 respectively.

Especially at GenCon, 80 definitely feels too close to 100 for my liking.

I worry about new players as well. At PAX I ran with several groups that 1 or 2 vets only. Idk how often we would see that at GC.

There's also us Canucks to consider. 78 is 100 for us and that's pricey.

I expect the convention center charges Jeff more for space every year, so I expect ticket costs to go up based on that alone.

Hopefully we're back to the $2/year pattern

We have had a least 1 year where there was no increase since I have been playing.

Honestly I'm more annoyed the price of the gencon badge has gone up. At least with TD I can see where the money goes, staff, sets, etc as far as I can tell it's still just the same old gencon at a higher price. Only real difference seems to be were out in the boonies because every retailer must now have 3 copies of there booth in the dealers hall.

The issue with not increasing the price as GenCon sells out is the idea of earning more money for the time put in. Since True Dungeon tickets are in shortage at GenCon, one of the options they have is to keep rasing the prices until they eventually don't sell out, then start decreasing the price until they sell enough tickets to meet there ticket goal.

Price increases aren't a terrible thing, if people aren't happy with the current state of cost, people should voice their opnion and ultimately decide whether the cost is worth the benefit.

But, if your still willing to pay the extra cost to ultimately play the new dungeon, then the price is at a relatively stable point to meet or exceed your benefit. Additionally, there is always the issue of alienating long time players who are used to paying a cheaper price, but for True Dungeon to suceed finacially there is a level of aleinating people in order to make a profit, ultimately making a better experience.
