TOPIC: td.events and the check-in process

td.events and the check-in process 6 years 6 months ago #1

I like how much of a non-issue the new check-in system has been, at least from my experience.

Any chance we could get the ability to fill out our waivers in TD.events and have them tied to our account? Pretty please? :)

That’s a great idea! That said my check-in experience on Thursday was super easy and smooth.

Online waivers is a great idea.

We buy, sell, and trade True Dungeon tokens. We also have a convenient consignment program where you can sell your own tokens.

I'm hopeful that if nothing else, it would be an option to do it and just resign every day.

It worked great!

Only issues were my screwup! I gave wrong email to transfer some tickets, system let friend use it and tickets went to nowhere land... they quickly fixed it manually and made a note to validate email... couldn’t even request tickets back... but like i said, i messed up.

One suggestion is to let people purchase for maybe 15 minutes after start time... I tried buying a couple of times, tried adding to my cart more tickets, then it failed since they became “past time” the instant it hit...

Oh well...

Overall, kudos on the new system!

System was a vast improvement on Origins systems. Easy to transfer, refund and purchase.

More flexible then Origins, GenCon and GameholeCon registration systems.

Hopefully will be used for GamholeCon True Dungeon tickets in the coming weeks.

I could see a concern with transferability. I buy a ticket, sign the waiver, then transfer the ticket (or wristband) to someone else who didn’t. Not a deal-breaker, just a concern.

Especially for my newbie runs that involved strangers, it was tough having to all check in at once. Perhaps a designated meeting spot outside the dungeon would be useful?

There should have been more information outside about where to go to buy the tickets. Lots of interested players had no idea how to buy tickets. Also perhaps a kiosk to use to purchase tickets.

Agreed the signage out front should have had the URL td.events. And I thought it was weird that the video playing was the volunteer recruitment video, rather than one of the marketing videos, like this one:

But the check-in process itself worked flawlessly for me.
Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

I'd like to see a 5min window or at least allow staff to manually sell the ticket (take cash/card/generics). I wanted to impulse into what was a low or dead run and couldn't do it a few times.

A kiosk or even a sign board of how to purchase tickets would be nice.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

I thought Origins check in was done amazingly well - even for difficult challenges (like back to back runs with little to no gaps in time between them). This was, hands-down, the best set-up so far.

I like the idea of online waivers as well to speed the process even more.

Check-in system was great, I agree there.

I know I'm going to be in the minority, but I liked that the system prevented last-minute ticket purchases. If you wanted tickets, it had to be before ticket time. No more buying tickets for a 3:02 pm run at 3:10 pm. It causes a lot of headaches sometimes for us coaches when folks show up last minute.

If it's just one or two people, with their own build, then yeah, sure, no problem. Frequently it's a veteran player who wants to kit out the rest of the party. Token enhancers mean redoing the whole card now if they're introduced late. We're not supposed to mark that number out and write in a new one. Upgrading someone's gear is even worse because the newer players often have no idea how they are being "helped" so everything has to be explained all over again and the coach has to write over top of or scribble out everything - which makes it harder for your combat DMs to read and therefore costs your party time. Yes, it's only seconds but seconds multiplied by several people can add up to minutes pretty fast.

If you're going to show up last minute, please keep the sharing to the barest minimum.
