TOPIC: Updated Powers for Iktomi’s Shaper Necklace - FINAL

Updated Powers for Iktomi’s Shaper Necklace - FINAL 1 day 20 hours ago #1

Thanks all for your final feedback on the changes. We did a few tweaks that include changing the Earth Elemental power and better defining how multiple polymorphs work for the Legendary.

The tokendb.com listings will get updated next week, and they will go into effect at Gen Con.

Thanks again!

Thanks, Jeff!

You don't need this sentence for the Legendary token, as it doesn't mention requiring a free or standard action on the token.

(contrary to what the token states, this does not use up either the wearer’s Free or
Standard Action for the round)

Looks great!

Question: with the Shaman necklace can a Druid polymorph into and out of the same elemental multiple times in a room? The token reads “if you have the means to do so” but as someone new to Druid what are those means?

Shaman's Greater Necklace and Iktomi's both can be used as often as you want, which is a reason there have been complaints about Iktomi's not being that much better than the relic.

Relic: Polymorph, attack, end polymorph, cast spell, polymorph again, attack, or whatever sequence you want to do. So, while Iktomi's allows for spellcasting in poly, effectively, relic allows someone to get benefits of poly and cast spells.

Shaman's Belt has a cost, so, while can keep polying, eventually run out of spell slots to pay for it. So, nobody ever cared about reining in it, plus any druid could easily get the relic for a relatively small amount of money, so no druid ever needed to worry about the belt. Only poly wizzes care how the Belt works, and the number of wizzes who poly is ... not high. I often forget myself to do polywiz builds below Epic.

The Legendary does have a few advantages over the Relic. It lets you cast spells while polymorphed which is nice. Also, it lets you use polymorph potions without turning them in and lets you ignore once per room restriction on trinkets, so you can repeatedly polymorph in and out of them like the Relic and Legendary allow you to do with Elemental forms.

That said, I'm not sure there are any polymorph potions or trinkets better than Relic/Legendary elemental forms (which makes sense since they are all Rare or lower rarity). Eventually I think there will be. There was almost a UR Trinket this year (which was scrapped since the Legendary was going to be boosted) but I suspect there will be a Trinket at UR or Transmuted form at some point.

Ian and Mike, thank you.

So (as a polymorph-noob) if I’m understanding it correctly, the relic gets a straight-up upgrade due to the changes to elemental form abilities and can shift freely in and out of 1 form. All around great token.

Meanwhile, Iktomi-wearing Druids can shift freely into up to 2 forms — and freely in and out of the 2nd form, and either form can be an elemental, potion or trinket form — and the “cast spells while polymorphed” gains some utility because of the elemental buffs.

Sound about right?

That's about right. With the Legendary, the Druid can freely polymorph into and out of both the first and second form, with the restriction that once the Druid polymorphs into the second form they can't polymorph back into the first form in that room.

If you're using the Relic, it pairs very nicely with the Shirt of the Fae which lets you cast spells while polymorphed. Although if you polymorph into an elemental that probably isn't even necessary as you can un-polymorph, cast a spell, then re-polymorph.

I just acquired the Shaman’s necklace. I have the Arcanum Shirt and swapping it out seems like a downgrade since you can freely go into and out of an elemental shape each round. Right?

I would agree with that.

Looks good!

The legendary allows trinkets to be used any number of times per room, which might inhibit design of future trinkets (e.g. probably wouldn't make a future trinket which heals all party members by 1 when you change into the trinket form because it would amount to unlimited healing when paired with the legendary token).

I might make a 1/room or 1/game limit on Trinket forms with the legendary for this reason.
