Has True Dungeon ever thought about or made a decision on using random d20s versus the current spin down style of dice? What would the cost be to switch to randomized D20's?

The issue has never been lack of desire, the issue has been lack of big d20s. If you have a source for fist-sized true d20s, please let me know.

Anyone with woodworking knowledge know how are difficult it would be to made a large wooden d20? Just the shape, not with the numbers inscribed.
Something like this

but not as large?

I found 55mm non countdown dice but they are $70 each....lol

If you think you can talk Jeff into forking over $40-$70 per die, go for it. :P

I don't nor do I think it would be worth it. All that said instead of the 55mm would going down to a 40mm non spindown be a better option? So it obviously wouldn't be as large but it wouldn't be a spindown type. I don't have a 55mm and 40mm to compare, but in my experience in the dungeon unless I am the one rolling for the D20 I rarely see what the roll result is.

Of course I'm ignorant of this, but is this something that could be 3D printed for a smaller cost?

Some more knowledge about 3D printing that I would be able to answer it, but I imagine that balancing the die correctly might be an issue.

My preference would be smaller non-spindown dice. I would even prefer regular size D20s if we could do away with spindown dice. Just have a small tray to roll in...which also avoids damaging the slider tables.
this is not a signature.

If someone wants to print a dice, I would be willing to make a mold and see about just poring some dice and give them a test.

I hate to be the buzzkill here, but does it really matter? I mean if you roll a die properly there is an equal chance of landing on any of the 20 faces. The only downside to a spindown that I can see is if a player wants to try to control the result by rolling it in an unusual way.

Am I missing something?
