The fact that the 2 chain puzzles were different is completely evil

Great videos.

Question though - how did the rogue's clue in the last room of Into the Deeperdark indicate that you needed to use the names? I believe it said "A shortsword is handy to have around." My group took that to mean hands as in length

I thought it said something like "A spider would begin with a shortsword on position 8"

We started with the Axe because it both starter with A and had the shortest name, kind of a guess but we figured that or classic weapon damage dice

Spider clue had us thinking of base 8 but we never went anywhere with that

Some people were calling the short sword a dagger. This was a subtle hint about the weapons' names not necessarily being what you think, or that you needed to figure out the real names. Usually in a puzzle room there isn't much complex interaction with the DM, so this one was a bit odd as you could ask the DM and they could provide all of the names via 'the fighter knows this is named X'.

There were some adjustments to the clue over time as we saw groups having trouble with the puzzle.

"A shortsword is handy to have around." - just identifies the weapon as a shortsword.

"A spider would place the shortsword in the base position." - Again, this identifies the weapon as a shortsword, and also indicates that the shortsword should go in the 8th spot (spiders would presumably use a base 8 system).

Every year I wonder the same thing - why are there only videos for the four dungeons?

Watching these videos makes me feel like I was cheated . Our group was mostly first timers going through early on Thursday morning. We did not hear ANY audio clues in the first room that we could discern from the ambient background noise. And in the shield room we had the black light on for about 5 seconds of every minute so we couldn't even be sure we had the letter side up on the table, let alone try to figure out what they said.

I know that there is a huge following for this event and our group was really looking forward to the True Dungeon experience, but we got is not anything I could recommend. The experience and puzzles make way too many assumptions for a group of new players to have fun without guidance. I doubt we'll be back.
