TOPIC: Found some Tokens

Found some Tokens 3 days 8 hours ago #1

Hello! I recently bought a house and came across some True Dragon Tokens. I would like to know what they are worth and possibly sell them as a lot. If I posted some photos would anyone be up for taking a look?

Thanks in advance!

For sure, post some pictures and a spreadsheet or at least a text list, if there's a lot of them and you have the time. Lots of collectors here. Clear photos are key, especially if you're uncertain of the value of the tokens.

Thanks for your quick reply, I will take some time tonight to get pics and a list together.

Wanted to add on to this post with some pics, they are labeled by rarity. Would love any feedback on what you think they could be worth. Thanks!

I don’t think a lot of value in those, but others will know more. Maybe $20.

There are a few tokens in there that have some value, like the Lamp of the Efreeti. Overall the whole collection isn't that valuable. You can take the time to sell each token separately or sell it as a lot. Here's some sites you could reference for prices.

www.trenttokens.com/

www.tdtavern.com/

Both the people that run those sites can help you out if you wanted to put them up for consignment.

Yes, the lamps are the only ones currently being used out of your lot, but the silver weapons might be in demand next year. Some might be interested in the odd GP tokens. I think if you asked for $30 or so here, you might get that. Try a reverse auction starting at $40 - $50?

Thanks for everyone's feedback and info. It has been a fun thing to find and dig deeper into!

There are some "2014 treasure chips", are those to be redeemed at a CON or event? Couldn't find any info on them.

They could back during the 2014 con season but sadly they are now just for collecting. Which is quite a bummer for whoever left them behind. 14 token pulls is a fair amount to lose out on.

There might be collectors at least mildly interested in the 2014 treasure chips. I agree the Lamp of the Efreeti tokens might have interest also. You could start by just accepting offers on the collection and see if you get any offers you're happy with. :)

Just chiming in to say that I agree with the assessment that the Lamps of the Efreeti are the most valuable items in the collection (perhaps $5-$10 each). They are uncommon (green) tokens, but have more value than the regular uncommon tokens because they were completion tokens (given to players at the end of a TD run).

By way of background, in relevant part, TD tokens come in rare (red), uncommon (green), and common (black) varieties. When someone plays, they get a 10-pack with 1 rare, 2 uncommon, and 7 common tokens. Most of what you have are 10-pack common tokens, which typically are worth 25-50 cents. Uncommon tokens from 10-packs are often worth 50 cents to a dollar or so. Rare 10-pack tokens can be worth maybe a few bucks each. There are exceptions--sometimes a 10-pack token ends up being particularly desirable. Completion tokens are sometimes worth considerably more than a typical rare or uncommon token, as with your Lamps. (But even then, your Lamps are probably worth around $8, not $80, each.) Treasure chips have been running around $3 each, but as other posters mentioned, they are only good for the year in which they were printed. Sadly, 2014 treasure chips would only have value to a collector who wants them for their collection since they can no longer be turned in to TD for treasure.

Thank you for posting pictures of the tokens - it was neat to see a bunch of 2014 tokens all in one place. I wish you luck in finding a buyer. An offer in the $25-$50 range would be about right.
