TOPIC: Potential partners to split 8k order?

Potential partners to split 8k order? 1 month 1 week ago #1

I've been considering doing an 8k order to get a Path of Enlightenment and more trade goods. But I don't really need it all so didn't know if there were people out there that if i went for at least 4k of the order, if a few people might be in for splitting some or all of the rest. If so, PM me and if there is enough interest we can work out the details.

I would envision that the PYPs and trade goods would be split based on how many 1K units you were in for. Then we would discuss the extras (thanks for sharing your system Bob). Again, mostly trying to see if there is interest at this time.

I know this isn't an auction but wasn't exactly sure where to put this. :)

I'm interested in putting together a 2025 8k (though I get it's way out). I need a Path token, a mark, a few PYPs. I'd be up for working out a set price for folks who want to pitch in on that and settle up sometime in late Nov/Dec. Let me know sooner than later as well if you'd be interested. I figure you are looking for a 2024 order though. All good either way !

So, is there a formula someone has come up with to account for an equitable distribution of the unique item(s) of a pre-order package?

I think the problem is that everyone wants a Path of Enlightenment and based on current prices, it may be worth more than all the other unique items combined. Thus, there is no even way to divide things.

I kind of like how the group I was with a couple of years ago did it. Everyone in the buying group bid on the unique items. Whoever bid the highest (one blind bid from each participant, no bidding up or sniping), got the items for that price. For example, if the unique items had bids totaling $1200, then the $8K order was now only $6800. If 4 people were each buying a $2K order, they only each had to pay $1700 for the $2K worth of items.

Detailed Example
Persons A, B, C & D each pool $2K to place an $8K order.
Person A has a high bid on the Path of $700
Person B has a high bid on the Patron Code of $350
Person B has a high bid on the Wish Ring of $150
For the moment, forget any other unique items like the random URs (those are bid on as well)

Bids = $700 + $350 + $150 = $1200
$8000 - $1200 = $6800 / 4 = $1700

Person A Pays $1700 + $800 = $2500. They get everything that normally comes with a $2k order plus the Path
Person B Pays $1700 + $350 + $150 = $2200. They get everything in a $2K Order plus the Patron Code plus the Wish Ring.
Person C and Person D Pay $1700 each. They each get everything that normally comes with a $2K order.

Even if you don't get any of the unique stuff, at least you get a bargain on the $2K order and put the difference toward trying to obtain what you want. Yes, it means you are likely paying market price on the unique items, but then you also get a bargain on the $2K order.

If a Golden Ticket is received, there was a random die roll to determine who got it.

That is not how I would do GT.

I put a monetary value on probability of GT and factor that into my EV of an $8k bundle.

What my partner and I used to do was sell half the value of unique things to the other. This worked rather well since I wasn't into the unique items and pretty much just wanted lots of URs back then. Other groups are going to have their own specific interests, but the way I'd do the GT is sell it and split the proceeds, though could obviously sell it to one of the partners at some designated value rather than open up to the public.

Can decide this ahead of time. "Let's say GT is worth $n,nnn." Or, auction it off among the partners.

GTs being worth ~$1000 being settled by random die roll seems like a recipe for hard feelings.

I'd handle any found GTs in one of two ways:

1. Either sell it and split the proceeds evenly.

2. Similar to Dave's hidden bid system, everyone makes one secret bid on the GT, highest bid gets the GT, the amount of the bid is evenly divided among those who lost the bid.

I'd do #2 if everyone agreed unanimously, and #1 otherwise. #2 only makes sense if everyone actually wants the GT and is willing to pay something close to the market price for it.

Although I have absolutely no hard feelings on how our GT was handled, I'd likely prefer your alternatives.

I think Dave and I were in the same group.

We (the group) discussed options for doing the GT at one point (it might have been in the group survey we did to set the "rules" but I don't recall.)

Ultimately we landed on the die roll because in theory the golden ticket would have been randomly inserted into one of our smaller orders had we ordered individually and been lucky enough to get one. Odds were adjusted whether you bought in at 1k or 2k. (We rolled a D8). It worked for our group at that time. (We were all part of Team Synergy and know each other which may have made the casual approach more palatable) Each group will have their own preferences.

I think we discussed other options as well but can't find it in the survey. It was probably decided in a group eMail once the group was arranged, but before the order arrived.

I'm about 50/50 between a random roll and doing a second round of bids which adjusts each person's base share.

I'd also recommend figuring out shipping cost responsibilities up-front in order to be transparent and avoid confusion later.

Each person in our group paid for shipping + Insurance on their share, and the sponsor who placed the order and packaged and shipped the tokens got the perk of saving on that extra cost.

Thank you all for these thought and examples of splitting. Some interesting ideas to discuss if I get enough interest.
