--- AUCTION CLOSED ---
You know what time it is: IT’S AUCTION TIME!!! While I've shamelessly lifted much of this text from Utaku, Beertram, Felwred, and others, the auction is entirely on me. You've all been great inspirations, so let's rock this out!
Things To Know About My Auction
Everybody's auctions are just a little different. Maybe it's my many years in organized play, or maybe I'm just naturally cautious, but I'd like to set a few things in the clear before we get to the tokens:
- Gambling Style! Bidding can be incremental or use buyout (see below). Once we hit noon goblin time (CST) on November 19th, 2023 or 24 hours after the auction is successfully funded, the auction ends.
- All bids and prices are in USD.
- Shipping is $10 for up to 125 tokens.
- Shipping for 126+ tokens is $20.
- Shipping can be made for international orders. You must contact me for quote.
- Insurance on orders is strongly encouraged for domestic US orders over $100.
- Insurance on international orders will need to be quoted and will be required.
- Shipping is via USPS unless previously agreed upon.
Auction End Conditions:
- The final moment for the auction is 12 noon goblin time (CST) November 19th, 2023; BUT
- The auction can close early if the $6,800 funding goal is met, at which time the final 24 hour countdown begins (though this will not extend past noon CST on November 19, 2023); AND
- Every non-Augment item in the auction must have at least one bid (or buyout).
Let's Talk About Insurance
We want to make sure that we're all safe and secure in our orders. To support this, I do strongly suggest that insurance is added to all packages. Thankfully, the USPS has a simple tool for figuring out what the final cost is:
USPS Retail Postage Price Calculator
Sample insurance rates:
- $5,000 order: about $88.50
- $1,000 order: about $18.50
- $500 order: about $8.60
- orders under $100 include free insurance
So why is insurance suggested? Well, I've watched my dogs eat packages. I've watched delivery drivers yeet bundles of classic books worth nearly $10k from their trucks simply because they couldn't be bothered to walk 25 feet to the porch because it's sprinkling. I've seen dozens of packages left in the rain, and more than a few run over by trucks and other vehicles. SO! Let's be safe and protect ourselves. The final insurance rate will be included in whatever notice I send you when you win. It is, however, up to you to decide if you want insurance or not.
Again, this isn't required and your choice to add insurance or decline it is entirely up to you. Please feel free to contact my trading/ purchasing references (Fred, Trent, Kirk, Utaku, Orion, Kusig, Mike Steele, and many others) if you like!
How Do I Bid?
We're gonna use easy mode for this auction. All bids are either "buyout" or use $1 increments. If multiple people use buyout on the same item, the earliest timestamp wins. People that use buyout are only on the hook for paying if/when the auction is fully funded. If you use buyout,
please don't retract that buyout offer prior to auction close. I hate paperwork.
Be aware there are two kinds of buyouts: individual items and lots. You can hit buyout on, say, 1 PYP Ultra Rare from the list $90 or you can buyout a lot of 4 PYP Ultra Rares from the list for $340 (a bit of a savings). Lot ("bulk") buyouts take priority over individual buyouts, and individual buyouts take priority over standard bids. So, if you want something... hit that buyout or gamble and take your chances.
A bulk buyout will assign priority starting with the lowest active, visible bid.
Once I accept and process your bid, I'll send you a note recapping your bid and assigning you a name from D&D lore. I'm a huge nerd like that.
Lastly, and this is very important: if you don't use buyout and place a regular bid, the buyout can still be used by someone else. Similarly, bulk buyouts can be used to override a standard buyout. Want the item? Hit the final buyout. That's part of what we're gambling.
How Do I Pay For My Stuff?
I accept PayPal or we may be able to arrange a face-to-face meetup for cash. I do ask that we use PayPal's "Friends and Family" option. If you wish to use PayPal's "Goods & Services" option, that's fine but
you will need to cover the fees. Using G&S protects us both, but so does USPS insurance does as well. You're not required to use either one, but I suggest that you pick one. If you waive these options and something happens to your package, we're both SOL and that sucks. You're also welcome to pick up in central Michigan (thus negating the need for insurance). If you win something, you have 48 hours to pay for it once I notify you.
If you absolutely must use money orders, that may be doable. Postal money orders (USPS) will work, and you'll have 2 business days to pay for it (send me a photo). That said, I absolutely MUST have your payment
in my hands on/before November 29th so you may need to expedite delivery if necessary. Failure to remit by November 29th will result in your items being forfeit and the money order being returned to you, if it arrives here.
How Else Is This Auction Different?
Like I said, everyone's auctions are different. I'm a big fan of adding threshold tiers (like I did during my charity auction in December 2022) so we'll see what happens!
- Threshold #1. Golden Ticket for Sale (if any), 0% progress
- Threshold #2. unknown effect, 0% progress
- Threshold #3. unknown effect, 0% progress
- Threshold #4. unknown effect, 0% progress
- Threshold #5. unknown effect, 0% progress
What's a threshold tier? Well, they're like kickstarter stretch goals, sort of. In short, I send people free stuff or otherwise enhance the auction. If I send you free stuff, it's probably D&D material that I wrote or worked on. Or maybe it's roasted garlic and shrimp Doritos. I GUESS WE'LL FIND OUT! I mean, I'm a great big fan of charming rewards...
Finally - if we over fund ($6,800+) because of the 24 hour window, because everyone uses the buyout, or because... I dunno, reasons, the overage becomes a charity donation to Extra Life. Receipts will be posted!
Sponsorship; or: What Am I Retaining From This Auction?
I am planning to retain some things (like the small amount of surplus TGs), but anything else will be determined by what our sponsor, if any, elects to keep.
Sponsorship options (TAKEN):
- $1,000 - Path to Enlightenment #2 & Golden Ticket (if any)
$800 - Patron Pin (and Code) & Golden Ticket (if any)
$600 - Random Ultra Rares & Golden Ticket (if any)
Current Sponsor: Emirikol the Chaotic!
Sponsorship levels will adjust the funding goal for this auction, as well, and will be reflected in a later post/ update. If we end up without a sponsor, the Golden Ticket MAY be made available for sale... if one of the threshold tiers is achieved (shown above). In such an event, the Golden Ticket will be a separate sale on/before January 1, 2024.
I'm adding some augments and we're gambling a bit here - bid or buyout, maybe we fund, maybe we don't. Let's take this journey together!
