TOPIC: Token Auction Benefitting Mary's Hands - UPDATES!

Greetings everyone! I am hosting an auction to benefit our non-profit, Mary's Hands. This auction is Ebay style with bid increments being $1 higher than the previous bid below $100 and $5 higher over $100. Bids should be sent via PM inside the forums. Shipping will be $5 for priority mail or free for first class (buyer's choice.) Tokens can also be delivered in-person at GenCon.

The auction will begin Noon MDT Monday 4/17/2023 and be finished midnight 4/26 midnight MDT (10 days.) I will update the auction results daily (sometimes more frequently but I don't want to promise it.)

Pseudonyms will be assigned by me themed from Star Wars characters (earlier bids get cooler monikers!)

The proceeds will go to the non-profit farming Isabelle and I run. We supply fresh organic produce at no cost to Boulder/Denver individuals facing food insecurity through our 501C3 Non-Profit. We partner with Boulder Food Rescue - they distribute what we grow to the communities that need it the most and UpRoot - a group that helps us pick the produce.

Proceeds from the auction will go to pay for plant starts, organic fertilizers/amendments, and seeds for 2024 for anything where we need seeds beyond taking them from what we grow (seed were already bought for 2023 - the starts will be picked up mid-may.) If we were to exceed the costs, any excess monies will go to expanding our operations. We are currently growing on 1/2 acre and hope to grow it to 2+ acres of the available property in the coming years.

Last year, we grew just over 4,000 pounds of produce valued at more than $250,000. At the end of the season, we expanded from 1/3 acre to 1/2 acre so we are hopeful to do even more this year.

All winning bids will pay through Mary's hands site and will be tax deductible charitable donations. Payments should only be made after the auction is complete and you have been announced as the winning bidder. Donations to Mary's Hands, separately, are always appreciated.

There are valuable woodies without bids just waiting to help complete someone's collection! I think the enhanced tokens deserve some love - included in that set are an enchanter's whetstone, charm of the fire newt, master ale drinker's Bead, and a Ring of Fervor. Compare what those are going for and put in a bid!

Finally, Alan is a great DM. For D&D, he's authored quite a few AL adventures including Author Only adventures that sold out every time I saw them available when they were offered both virtually and in person. It's a great opportunity for a D&D game or delve into Pathfinder, Star Trek, Dark Souls, etc..! I encourage people to grab this opportunity!

In order to simplify things and encourage more bidding, I am removing shipping charges for 1st class shipping and lowering the priority mail shipping to $5.

Let's get some donations rolling to this charity effort, people! Food shortages are far more common than many of us realize, and helping takes less effort than most of us realize, too.

As for my game: I've run thousands of tables across dozens of systems over the years. I've published with a bunch of companies, and I love getting players to do Big Heroic Things. Why is helping to provide nutritious produce to those facing hunger important?
Until earlier this year, SNAP eligible households were getting a Covid related supplement. That ending reduced the average amount qualifying households could get from just over $300 to $90/month. That isn't a lot of money for those of us doing well but for people barely able to afford rent, it is a crushing reduction usually resulting in just eating less. These are hard-working families usually with all adults in the household keeping down 2 jobs. Mary's Hands provides a way to help those families in a dignified way. Please help where you can.
