TOPIC: Auction Trackers

Hey all!

As we're coming upon another year of tokens released, I'm preparing to do another Auction "Tyler-style," but was hoping there was someone out there with a good excel/google sheet that would assist the auction tracking to avoid any errors that crop up from time to time...just being human and all.

Any thoughts or guidance would be much appreciated!

I started toying around with creating an auction tracker web site last year, but then didn't have the time for it, especially when it came to needing to create a database of all the tokens. I wish there were an API from somewhere (tokendb?) to be able to get a listing of tokens, that would simplify things. I might try to get into it again this winter, but that's going to be too late for a lot of the pre-order auctions. My goal is to have it be generic enough to be able to support other auctions too, not just 8K order auctions.

Would there be sufficient interest in something like this to be worth doing it? I figure that the advantage would be that it would be do all the bid calculations for people (which I assume people are using spreadsheet formulas for right now), and that it would be easy to find data on auction prices over time. The disadvantage would be change for people who already have systems in place.

Auction tracker?

As in a website that tracks all the auctions currently happening on the forums?

What I was thinking was a tool for auctioneers to track the bids in their auctions. So instead of a spreadsheet with a bunch of complicated formulas, the site would do those calculations for you. The auctioneer would just put in "X bid $5 each on 5 Alch Ink, Y bid $6 on 10 Alch Ink, Z bid $5.50 on 2 Alch Ink" etc., and the site would figure out what the current bid values are and who is winning. It could also spit out formatted posts for updates. It wouldn't be an eBay-ish site - bidders would still submit bids by PM to the auctioneer, they wouldn't be able to enter bids directly into the site. And it would be a free resource, I'm not looking for any money for this.

I feel like the advantage to auctioneers is a one-stop shop for managing their auctions as well as seeing data for previous auctions. Non-auctioneers could still come to the site and see the price trends for various items.

I realize that this would be a change for auctioneers, and there would have to be an element of trust (and a lot of testing) to make sure that the site calculations were working properly, but I feel like over time, this could be very useful for the community to have all this data.

One that would track across multiple auction along with a ratio to funding goal to allow bidders to get what they desire at the best prices.
