What is a static price auction? If the items have static prices, is it an auction?

It's an auction in the idea that it's only sold if enough of the items are claimed to fund it.

I don’t get it. In the 8K auction that just opened, PYP’s are already at +$120. Why bid an amount more than $120 when you can lock in here for $120? If anything, I would have expected that auction to slowly creep up to the $120 level, but instead it went straight to it, and over.

A Fixed Price auction in this forum does not have a series of bids. Think of it as store, but all items must sell for anyone to get anything. If you want the item you offer to pay the listed price. Once everything sells, the order is placed.

If there is not enough interest to sell all items at the listed prices, the auction fails and no items are actually traded and no payment taken. The auctioneer can reduce the price of items, but in doing so, the auctioneer is making up the "lost" $$ to complete the 8K purchase.

This one was different
