This shipping insert is designed to fit snugly inside of a small USPS flat rate box to remove the worry of anything happening to your transmute order. While it can't prevent the mail system from losing your package, with it can protect your tokens from being lost due to rough handling. From being thrown off a roof(video) , to being run over by a car(video) my TPU insert can survive it all and help keep your tokens safe(video) and inside the package until they reach TD HQ. I have contacted the Goblins in the TDHQ shipping room and they have told me they will gladly send the inserts back to anyone who uses them with their transmute so you can use it again and again. These should last decades and should not be seen as a consumable product. So save yourself from shipping anxiety and needing to manage tiny plastic baggies and get a Token Shipping Insert.





It holds 175 tokens, split across 7 rows of 25 tokens each. The rows are made so stacks of 25 fit snugly to minimize movement during shipping. I found token width varies a small amount depending on the year it was made in my testing so some years are more snug than others; if you have any doubt your stack is at 25 try inserting another token from the back, if you can then it wasn't a stack of 25 yet. Fold your transmute labels on one side and slip it between the tokens as seen above to keep them in place for their journey to TD HQ.

If your transmute has less than 25 tokens in a stack you don't need to do anything extra to keep them safe. However, that extra space can be used to send the TD Shipping Goblins snacks.


Use this for your most precious transmute orders from relics to legendries to help keep them as safe as possible. You can use them for general transmuting as well, just know if you were to send 6 in a USPS medium box flat rate you'll be losing out on about 7-11% of the token capacity you would normally have if you stuffed it with that box with small flat rate boxes only. If you were the person who filled a medium flat rate box purely with tokens and nothing else, well this probably isn't for you as you're braver than I'll ever be.

The box is even designed with a simple lock nut that can be turned with your finger for extra security.

It is still recommended to tape your small flat rate box closed. Especially at the perforated edges, as in all of my roof drop tests those proved to be the weak point and split open every time they weren't taped up. While no tokens ever flew out of the insert in the dozens of times I threw the box with the insert off of my roof, I still suggest no one tempt fate on this matter.


Note: This container is designed as insert for a small USPS box, the box itself helps keep the clamshell design shut tightly. Please do not ship this item without the small USPS box. Especially do not try to ship it by itself.

FAQ
1. What happens if I send a set of 6 to TDHQ? Will they send the back to me, will there be extra costs?
A: TDHQ will send the back to you at no extra cost because they're awesome!

2. Can I fly with this?
A: Yes, this has survived 2 flights in my luggage without a box surrounding it with no tokens being spilled. I did however get flagged by TSA for hand check box times I flew, so remove them from your bag and put them in the box for them. Tokens are too dense for their scanners

3. Will I make a Large Flat Rate box version of this
A: No.

4. Will you print these in custom colors?
A: For an extra cost, sure. Just PM me and we can work that out.

5. How do I differentiate these from others?
A: Sharpie works great! I offer custom name plates but that's just a fancy way to name them.

How does this work with the standard of having to bag our stuff? Looks really cool, just curious.

This was in part designed because the head Goblin hates dealing with plastic bags, so no bags required. Instead fill each row as if you were filling a bag. So don't mix different TGs/Transmute Items within the same row and try to have each row transmute to a whole # of TGs.

Which means each row should be for a type of trade good in there, the label you put in that row should denote the amount of trade goods it will turn into.

Ex1: You have 25 Rares that turn into Mystic Silk, that will fill 1 row completely. You will put a label that says 6x Mystic Silk in that row by folding a corner and tucking that corner between two tokens of the row. See the images above.

Ex2: You have 12 Rares and 1 Uncommon that will turn into Enchanter's Munition, this will leave the row half full. Do not put other tokens in the row. Make a label that states 3x Enchanter's Munition, put it at the bottom of the row and place the tokens on top as seen in images above.

Ex3: You have a large Legendary Transmute like Aaron's Sunhide Robe that will fill multiple rows. Print a label for each row, write "P1", "P2", "P3", etc. on them. Place one in each row that you are using for that transmute. If it does not fill a row completely leave the remainder of the row unfilled. Or filled with Goblin Snacks.

Ex4: You have Golden Fleece that does not nicely fit into 1 row, but does into 2. You could:
- Have a "1x Golden Fleece" label and place 10 tokens in 1 row, leaving the remainder empty.
- Have a "2x Golden Fleece" label and place 20 tokens in 1 row, leaving the remainder empty.
- Have a "5x Golden Fleece P1/P2" labels, and place the 50 tokens in 2 rows with a label in each row.

Wow this looks great! I hate using plastic baggies. Can only imagine TD being overloaded with them. What do u mean when you say you'll be losing 7-11% Token capacity by using these in a medium flat rate? Is that because you can jam a bit more than 175 Tokens into a small flat rate box?

And love the fact that you roof drop tested these.

Correct, the reduced capacity I'm talking about is because you can't shove in small extra stacks for GP and GF. Its about 10-17 less tokens per box if you were stuffing them depending on how you wanna look at it. If you only ever sent in 7 bags of 25 tokens in each small flat rate box then you wouldn't be losing any capacity.

I'll go through great lengths to ensure the safety of our tokens~! And definitely didn't just want an excuse to throw things off my roof one afternoon... I also want to shout out my lovely wife for giving me a hand with all my testing and recording them!

So this is a really cool concept, but I foresee one logistical issue...

Generally when transmuting, I send in a medium box (packed tightly with 6x small boxes -- This Is The Way), and get back just one small box of transmuted stuff.

If using 6 of these inserts, TDA would instead have to ship my transmutes back in a medium box, which costs ~2x as much.

Given that, it seems likely that either
1. they'll have to charge us more per transmute order for individuals who choose to do this,
or else
2. if a lot of people do this, they'll eventually have to charge more for all transmute orders to avoid losing money on shipping.

Good point here. I didn't think about that. I almost always wait to send in a medium flat rate box too because it usually isn't worth the money just sending in a small flat rate box. I wonder if TD could send one back with the small flat rate they send back and then hold the others for pick up at a convention? Maybe too much trouble. Or maybe they could slowly send the others back one at a time when they send us our VTD loot (however the survivor pin might not fit).

While the head Goblin and I did discuss the possibility of sending a medium box with 6 of these in it, it was in the context of "it would reduce maximum capacity of tokens it could hold". So I cannot give an answer to this.

The most effective use of this shipping insert to me protecting your expensive relic and legendary transmutes, or other important items like Oils of Enchantment.

I agree with Dave, if I bought these I’d buy six because I always send in medium flat rate boxes but then TD would be sending me back a medium instead of small flat rate back, and I wouldn’t want to pay double for return shipping. But I do love the idea.
