Fiery hellscape or bust!

A few members have pointed out the overwhelming number of fire resistance items in this year's collection. I decided to comb through the collection and get a tally of tokens featuring the trait:

Fire Resistance
UR - 2
Rare - 6
Uncommon - 3
Common - 0

Additionally, cold damage appears to be well represented. Here are some numbers:

Cold damage
UR - 2
Rare - 0
Uncommon - 4
Common - 3

If I had to venture a guess, I'd be afraid of a mechanic where everyone takes fire damage every turn for being in the hellish environment. Cold damage appears like it'll be super effective.

We have a revival potion and two new armors that key off of characters dying. That could support a hypothesis of ever-present environmental damage.

Will post more observations later. Time for work.

Arnold,

Trust nothing. See Boots of Lava Walking from a few years ago. Sometimes Jeff puts in "feeder" tokens just to round out a set and throw everyone off. However, on the other hand, he has specifically mentioned an infernal pit, so fire resistance is probably spot-on.

It was also specifically revealed by Jeff as one of the locations during the TD Moot at Origins this year.

Time to break out the Dragonscale set!

The base notes for the tokens say from Jeff:

In the 2019 adventuring season, players will venture into a dark swamp, then into a jungle temple, and then finally to the Infernal Pit to face off against the dreaded Mind Slayer!

So... I think you're right!

I'm still holding out hope the Underthing is a reference to another Rothfus adventure. I truly loved those. But its probably just another hell scape XD

At the Origins TD Moot, it sounded like the plan was swamp, hellscape, and Rothfus realm. Maybe something changed and the jungle temple replaced the Rothfus realm?

Honestly who knows, I could see the first few rooms being swamp, the last few rooms being temple. Similar to how we got on the ship part way through this year.

I don’t know... it would make sense that since we have three distinct dungeons now that the first adventure would be a swamp, second a jungle temple, and third the Infernal Pit...

Not combine more than one in a single dungeon?
