TOPIC: Spider gem puzzle in Underdark?

So, the reveal videos are out.

The reveal video for Underdark showed the spider gem puzzle and mentioned there were clues on how to solve it spread out in earlier rooms. Just wondering what the clues were and if people found them easy to recognize.

There were little plaques with Drow house names on the walls, and a colored light hanging with them representing the houses color.

I was told that some of them were out in the storyscape. Someone said they saw some in the other dungeon.

There was even one in the Storyscape, about halfway back the hallway heading towards the check-in desks. It was easier to noticed walking back towards the entrance of the hall.

As I recall, I saw 3 in the storyscape: Grimm=red, Sable=amber, and the rainbow one (Omni?). Each of the first six rooms on puzzle-side had another one. I am not sure where the 10th one was (training room or final room?). Teal and green looked alike, amber and orange looked alike. Pink and purple could also be confusing if seen alone.

My wife figured out something that made it very easy to solve, which is not in the module (per a little birdy) but is correct.

The second letter of the house name is the first letter of the Color that was associated with it.

Omni - Multicolor
Grimm - Red
Sable - Amber

I did not catch that...nicely found.

Sable = Amber
Twilight = White
Obreen = Blue
Spectral = Purple
Grimm = Red
Spellbane = Pink
Agarow = Green
Steele = Teal
Bone = Orange
Omen = Many coloured.

Impressive.

I can confirm there were four clues in the storyscape, and one in each of the six rooms for a total of ten.

I liked the concept, but I really hope we don't ever see any more 10-color-light puzzles. It was impossible for colorblind folks, like me, to tell the difference between half of them (I'm looking at you, teal/blue/green and amber/orange...)

And I think I only saw one in the storyscape... but I wasn't looking for them either. Knowing 6/10 makes the puzzle easy enough I suppose.

Our group recognized the house names but did not realize the color was significant. We made an effort to assign each name to a different person to memorize.

Fortunately there were enough people who remembered most of the colors and a few judicious grabs for clues allowed us to complete the puzzle.
