TOPIC: How about +1 HP for pre-filled card or App

We had a brief discussion on the coaches forum and no one was strongly opposed to this idea so I will like to open it to general discussion.


Proposed Change to TD rules: Each player that is described on a completely filled out sheet (or phone app application) listing their tokens and summary of the tokens effects to the coaches room will be awarded with an increase of one HP to their max HP for run they are about to go on.

The tokens must be available for the coach to check.

The program on the TD website and the "True Dungeon Char Gen" phone app are both good examples of what is acceptable.


Supporting arguments: If more players arrived prepared with these sheets or apps, it would be great help to coaches to ensure parties entered the Training Room on time.

I think a lot more players are capable of using the tools and an extra HP might be enough incentive to make sure they do it.

Some coaches are doing it already and it would be good to be consistent between coaches.

Having the sheets already completed should reduce the number of times a correction has to made while filling out the party card. Which will make them more readable for DMs.

It will also reduce the number of errors on the completed cards. I had several parties tell me that I was the first coach they were confident filled out their card correctly.

Eric is already doing this in Grind and it does not seem to cause any problems there.

We started the third difficulty level (Normal / Hardcore / Nightmare) and are leading the way to rewarding players who come with pre-filled stats!

Make it one bonus token draw instead of +1 HP and you've got yourself a deal! Give it a bonus token draw and you'll see a LOT of filled out cards!

(OK, I'd do it for +1 HP also, since I already fill the card out - but I'd MUCH rather get +1 Token Draw).

A lot of us do it now for nothing. Ok, not nothing. We get to relax and chat in the coaching room, and we know we made some poor volunteer's life easier, and we are confident none of our stats got overlooked and all the math is right. All those are reward enough.

But an extra HP would be nice.

And we all greatly appreciate it.

I think the biggest difficulty would be groups that aren't "pre-made". Our group of 4 goes in with pre filled out sheets only to realize some or all of our classes have been taken. So now we suffer and lose the bonus all because we didn't get there early enough. Not a huge deal as one HP doesn't mean much to me but if it were something like an extra treasure pull, that could make some people salty. Just one concern I came up with. I still think it's a great idea.

Just as we have always said, come in with a backup plan for class in TD101, they would need to have a backup as well. It's not too hard on the character builder app or in the spreadsheet to have a build for a few different classes. Each person should have their own stat card, and fill in 2-3 classes worth just in case instead of one sheet with everyone's info on it.
