TOPIC: 2015 Tokens and Light

There were a bunch of 2015 tokens with text relating to bright or sudden light. I saw nothing in TD/TG this year relating to that. Many of these tokens were common/uncommon. If we are going to have the tokens we should see so rooms that use them.

When I get home I can add the list for reference.

Often, we will see something like that come up a year or 2 later. I expect it at WYC this year, personally.

I suspect sometimes it is to throw people off the track a bit. I'm not sure it would be a good thing if you could look at the token set and be able to figure out what all the challenges will be based on their abilities.

There were a few potential occurrences for this in True Grind:

- The Eye of the Deep Beholder-kin could emit Blinding Light from its central eye that could stun players.

- The Myconid had a blinding light ability (which would have reset the Displacer Beast's displacement) but I didn't end up using it because it was a bit complicated.

like potions of feather fall...that was 2 years ago(2014) still not used yet in regular dungeon

In Grind this year there was a Reverse Gravity spell (also one in WYC Grind last year) where Feather Fall was a very useful ability.

But true about Feather Fall in the normal dungeon. Feather Fall has been around since the woodie days and I can only recall a couple of uses in the main dungeon.

If I recall correctly last year all the sand related items weren't put to use in the regular dungeons.

I would have liked to see one Underdark room where there was a flash of light and everyone was at -2/-3/-4 (difficulty dependent) unless they had protection.

Tokens are created before dungeons get finalized so it could be there was a plan to have something that never came about.

I don't remember any of last year's situation-specific tokens being used in the adventure: walking on sand, sandstorms, thirst, sun exposure, etc. And it was a desert-themed adventure.

This year, the lava boots could be used, but shouldn't have been, if you wanted a treasure stamp.

Yeah they really weren't used in the adventure.

When I learned about that (before GenCon) I was sad, so I tried to incorporate elements into True Grind (walking on sand, sandstorms, thirst, sun exposure). It still would have been nicer if they were in the main adventure though.

The main adventure (and Grind) did have encounters where Arrows of True Flight were helpful.

And there was the main adventure encounter where the Iridescent Sphere was useful.

Boots of Lava Walking could also be used in this year's WYC Grind.
