TOPIC: Talking mushroom puzzle

I went through Underdark (Combat) twice and both times we failed to solve the talking mushroom puzzle without trial and error. The second time through I didn't want to spoil anything for the other players plus I actually wanted to determine the right mushroom to eat through the clues we were supposed to be given.

Good grief! Some of the mushrooms were completely inaudible and the confusing colors only made matters worse. It might not have been as technically interesting but having the clues printed out and posted somewhere would have made this puzzle a lot more fun to figure out. We were constantly trying to understand the scratchy audio instead of actually puzzle solving... unless that was part of the puzzle.

Anyway, Sable Gauntlet (puzzle) was awesome, Underdark (combat) was a letdown.

See, my group was able to narrow down the Mushroom puzzle to one of two, based solely on what they were saying. A 50/50 shot at guessing correctly.

I also heard (haven't verified yet) that there was a clue in the previous room that might allow you to narrow it down to the correct mushroom.

The puzzle clue was red white or blue will do. From there we listened to White which said her <forgot which color> sister... and the color was a male. So white was lying. Listening to Red it said my teal sister is acidic and quite mad about it. Teal was female but not mad. Strike two. Blue said his Jovial Pink sister and Pink was female and jovial.

I am not 100% on the colors and such but if you listen you could make it down to one.

We heard that Blue would not make you shrink and we heard that Pink would not make you shrink. Since only one could be telling the truth, that meant that either Blue or Pink *would* make you shrink. The Rogue clue was Red, White or Blue would do, so that made our final choice pretty easy. I ate from the blue and was happy to be tiny.
