TOPIC: Any tickets left? Need 3...me and 2 sons

I am a beginner and trying to buy True Dungeon tickets. I need 3...one for me and 2 for my sons. It appears sold out for a group of 3. Am I just a newbe missing something or am I out of luck and time?

Welcome - True Dungeon sells out quickly and is mainly sold out for this year (it was mostly all gone within 3 hours of event registration opening).

If you are lucky, you can find a few open slots in the GenCon registration system, as people will return their tickets as their schedules change, if you check back every day or so you it is not too unlikely you will be able to find a slot of three:

You may also be able to find 3 spaces someone has pre-bought and is looking to sell/trade for people to join them in the GenCon 2015 subforum here.

Honestly watch the forums and the event catalog to see what pops up. Its more than likely you'll find the slots. Right now a lot of forumites are advertising and waiting on previous players and friends to confirm yes or no before offering to public. A lot of us when we have extra tickets like to give volunteers first shot as trying to volunteer and play TD in the same year can be a real balance trick of timing.

By newbie do you mean you have never played before or just not much?

How old are your sons?

What dates/times are you interested in?

Do you know if you are more interested in combat or puzzles?

We have never played True Dungeon before. We have played D&D. My sons love strategy board games and were really wanting to go through both the puzzle option as well as the combat.

Sons are 15 and 16.

We are currently set to be there Thur to Sun but were thinking of shaving off one day on one end or the other. We haven't been to GenCon before either so we have a lot of learning to do. My oldest son is trying to create his own board game to try to market to one of the big game companies. I thought going to Gen Con would be a great experience for him.

If i had to choose beteween combat or puzzle, I think we would choose puzzle...but again we have never participated before.

I suggest attending True Dungeon 101 so that you and your sons know what to expect. There are still tickets available for Saturday 10am. SEM1577066

You folks will have a blast at Gencon, and by playing TD you'll see what a lot of us consider to be the best part of it.

Watch and wait, especially just before GenCon. Some people can't go and replacement players need to be found. Most years I do not know If I can go until just before the Con. The community has been great in letting me join their runs.

It won't hurt to every once and awhile bump this thread so it shows up in the Recent Topics list. Maybe once every couple of weeks. Just reply to your own thread with something like "Bump, still looking for three tickets"

In the first two years I got in via the wait list. This is where you show up to TD during the con and ask to be on the list. Usually means waiting around TD, and then when someone doesn't show, they give you the option to jump in. I think one year they were taking down phone numbers.. I could be wrong.

The wait list is not promising for a whole group of 3, but TD can still be lots of fun even if you know no one else on your run(which has almost always been my case)

GenCon itself is awesome and can be overwhelming.. There is a learning curve. There are so many things going on, and sub communities and events happening in other buildings. Just go in with the understanding that you will not have time to even scratch the surface. But don't worry I'm sure your time will quickly be filled. Remember to take breaks.
