A lot of discussion has occurred on this but I wanted a clear thread to see how we feel. So with experience equivalent for normal through nightmare, to remove that fight.
And to put this in easy to understand terms (rather than 'hard' or 'easy'), what should be the target percentage of survival in a nightmare run?
I'd also like to include this definition of nightmare: "A terrifying or very unpleasant experience or prospect." Or "A person, thing, or situation that is very difficult to deal with."

I say 5-10%.

My reason for this is that it should be an exceedingly tough difficulty. It should not be undertaken by any old group with some rares or a few URs.

2 people should not walk through untouched. 10-20% survival rate.

Maybe there could be separate combat boards for Nightmare? That's probably a logistics pita. Worth considering though.

I guess I would want to know what the current survive rate on nightmare is. It is true that 2 or 1 (I think Lazlo soloed nightmare this year) making it through doesn't sound right but I would imagine these are the exceptions with Legendaries out the wazoo. So what is the current survival rate for a purpled party of 10-8?

EDIT: Or of a reliced party of the same size? Should nightmare require a reliced party or just a purple party?

I even did the puzzles..no push damage. Granted i am maxed out and dont have to worry about anyone knocking my puck either
I think it is easier with less people too (combat anyway)
I try to get my parties to run it like grind(combat)...don't do planner charts/beads etc. It wastes too much time for those extra points

Our GT run was totally purped out and we didn't lose anyone. I latter ran with my normal group which has three purped out people and red everywhere else. We had four petrified and one dead. Strangely enough, the three purped out guys were all petrified, and one of them could have prevented the death if he hadn't been.

Oh, both of these runs were puzzle runs.

I think the thing that hurt us most was the damage over time. I'm seriously considering trying to find 10 Charms of Synergy if this is going to continue...

I think that makes a lot of sense. Especially if you have bonuses that will pump it up anyway (Rings of Greater Focus and such).

For those that don't know, this is where the EN429 never heals anyone joke comes from. Our group always guesses the same thing for skill tests:

Bard: Volkswagon Rune
Cleric: Pride (I think)
Druid: Marijuana leaf
Wizard: who uses wizards anymore? j/k ;)

I think it's not about survival rate, but what level of tokens is nightmare designed for? I would think that nightmare should be designed for a group of 10 people all purped out, with perhaps a red person and a person with relics and or legendaries.

I want to have a challenge, but I don't always want to die simply because I'm not fully legendaried. (Besides, isn't that what Nightmare Grind is for?)

In a similar way, I believe that hardcore should be doable with a fully red party.

With that said, I believe that dungeon difficulty level and grind difficulty level will mean different things.

My thoughts on Nightmare:

  • I agree it should be truly hellish.
  • No "nightmare slots" should be listed. Instead, the decision to play at that difficulty should be a unanimous decision in the coaching room. Oh, you bought out the whole run but someone got held up and can't make it and now the TD staff has thrown a newbie into the room who refuses nightmare? Tough break then, you're not doing nightmare.
  • I've only played "Nightmare" four times. But each time, we had less than 10 players, half of the group were newbies, and no one had anything better than 3 or 4 purples. We cake walked through all of the runs. In none of them did anyone even drop below half HP. Frankly, it was boring.
  • I agree with the general range of 5-15% survivability.
  • I would like to see Nightmare as something even big token buyers don't do many runs on, simply because survival would require not only lots of big tokens but also tons of consumables.

Overall though, the whole "bigger and better and tougher" thing is getting tiresome for me. I'm very tempted to sell off a ton of my pricy tokens, and just do red/hardcore from here on out. Makes the game a lot more fun, in my opinion.

If I own the full 10 person run and have the ticket in my hand there should be NO POSSIBLE WAY for the TD people to sell a ticket I OWN and HAVE ON MY PERSON to someone else. It's a terrible policy and needs to be changed.
