GT runs 2014.. 10 years 10 months ago #1

ADMIN NOTE: The day and time for the Golden Ticket Run has been changed to Wednesday, August 13th at 5pm sharp. Please arrive a few minutes early. This change will allow for a much cooler and special experience as we will have the entire event space to ourselves. The GT Run will be a part of the volunteer training session so all admins, Coaches, DMs and NPCs encountered will be top-notch vet volunteers showing other volunteers how to do their particular job. Finally, after parties leave their adventures, this change will allow us to have a special bonus room set up in the True Grind area.

Thank you for your understanding.

-- Jeff

Silly question, but on the GT runs do you generally get to pick which adventure and which type (puzzle/combat) of run you do with your token, or is each GT locked into a particular adventure and type? I'd be happy to be lucky enough to get one and play either one I was just curious :)

this is to help organize the groups. kind of first come first serve,
each GT is the same. no particular group.

Folks lucky enough to find, trade, or buy a Golden Ticket generally respond here on the forums, and we sort ourselves (informally) into groups. It's very first come-first serve, although some shuffling will happen after the fact.

Often someone will say "I want to run in a NIGHTMARE GoldenTicket run!" and one of the groups will tentatively get a "Nightmare" tag added to it (usually a Combat run). Then some folks might shuffle into or out of it, or protest the Nightmare designation, or propose Hardcore instead, and more shuffling happens.

Some folks ask right off the bat for a preferred Class (ex: "Hey I found a GT! I want to play a Rogue on a Puzzle run!") but others will sign up for a run and wait until more folks join before they pick classes. Or they'll list several classes (ex: "Fully kitted for Ranger but will play any Combat class")

Eventually - usually long before the Convention happens - the groups are semi-finalized, with their classes and challenge levels picked out.

There will usually be a few slots not filled, due to GT players not logging onto the forums, or sometimes GT's not being found. They tend to be relegated to the "normal" runs (non-nightmare) since they are more likely newer/less-prepared individuals, and usually get to pick from whatever classes are left. Sometimes folks will give up their preferred class to make room for a newbie with a strong preference, but most often people are happy enough just to have a GT and know that the run will be great no matter what class they are playing.

awesome, I appreciate both answers :) I haven't pulled one before, but with my larger token order this year I'm hoping to get lucky. If I pull one I'll now know where to head!

Hoping to get lucky myself with my Adventurer's Guild package. That would be a nice surprise - I've heard some great things about these runs.

One slot has been claimed.
A post office person who looked like Smak met me in Kentucky last night and dropped off my tokens to me.
Very odd..all my tokens were accounted for.
