TOPIC: Selling Token for Cash at GenCon. (against the rules)

In the official GenCon rules:

Flea markets or any other type of selling will not be allowed in the public areas of the convention center or hotels. All selling of products or services is restricted to the Exhibit Hall. The sale of anything without the consent of Gen Con LLC will result in the removal from the convention WITHOUT refund. This includes handing out flyers and putting posters on the walls.

Unless Jeff gets an exception from this rule for tokens, people should be aware that selling tokens for cash is against GenCon rules.

Yeah...sorry...there goes your dreams of hanging out in the tavern and buying tokens cheap! I am sure a little trading will be going on...just don't go too crazy about it and things will be fine.

Exchange of money is a big No, no as far as GenCon is concerned. I do not think that anyone should consider doing that in a public setting like the tavern. If you are observed doing that, and are observed by the wrong person, expect to have your badge confiscated, and be told you are a persona non grata.

Yep and the chance of Peter Adkison (owner of GenCon and ex-owner of WoTC) being in the tavern from time-to-time is pretty high. He is a big fan of TD and friend of Jeff's. Also To Peter's credit, he is very active at the con, often personally involved 'in the trenches' walking around in a simple 'event staff' shirt helping others. Why just last week I happened to see him at the Star Wars convention doing just that. I would think the expanded tavern/inn area with its large public portion will also be of interest to Peter increasing his chances of stopping by.

Will you point him out to me please.

PS It might be helpful to have a little sign somewhere in the tavern
"GENCON rules prohibit exchancing True Dungeon tokens for Cash. Exhanges for other tokens is encouraged."

Thanks for the idea about the sign. We will probably have a Sticky asking for ideas for signs we need at the tavern.

Also, just so you know, Peter has been known to walk around in cognito (one year he was a Gorn). So, don't be surprised if that Ogre next to you in the tavern turns out to be Peter.

BTW, he got Tom Gowen REALLY good one year. Tom thought the Gorn assaulting him was a mental case. "We're All Doomed!".

lol. Maybe I should have had him sign one of my generic tickets he sold me two years ago (during the fiasco when the virus shut down their network). I heard he was running through TD when all the trouble started hehe.

Yes he was, and I was the one who had to go and pull him out of the VIP run...
