TOPIC: Using an UR Weapon

I have a very pretty Flaming Shortbow I always want to use in TD, but I don't for fear of losing it. Same for the ArchDruids Circlet. I only have a few purples and lost one playing TD already. The ones you wear and can keep on person don't worry me as much. <br /><br />Is there any way to protect your UR weapon chips? Proxies, the mob, hiring leprechaun assasins?

<br />Sadly you cannot proxy because the weapon damage wheel is pretty much unique to the weapon.  The best way to protect UR Weapons is to just keep a close eye on it.  If you are truly worried about them getting lost then I would put a bright white sticker on the back with your initials and a phone number.  That way if it is found it is up to the person who found it to be of good conscious, the white dot also makes it easier to spot in the dim lighting, if murphy's law of buttered toast are not applied.

I'm pretty sure that wouldn'tbe allowed. There's no process to verify you actually have the token. Bringing it out for each DM would be even more risky than just using the damn thing.

<br />There is a way to proxy - color copy the token face...put some tape over it...cut to size and glue to token.<br /><br />WRITE PROXY on the back so everyone knows it is a fake.<br /><br />This is not totally a LAWFUL GOOD thing to do - but I do it for weapons that are UR and impossible to replace.<br />

My weapon token never left my hand (except for a slider), and it was only a 2009 red or green (depending).  While I've heard stories of losing purple weapons, that just made me focus more on having my weapon at all times.  <br /><br />I guess having a special place for it and knowing it is there all the time is key.  Same for my keys and cell phone...

Ask Henwy what he wears around his neck in the dungeon and surprise it's not a noose. Seriously, there is a nice sealed necklace item that has been in circulation and works quite well. You really should bring your best tokens with you into the dungeon.

Someone did claim, while investigating my necklace, that some of them were coming lose/open. I immediately went and squeezed each case but I've yet to actually have one pop open. Everything was accounted for at the end of TR. I also picked up another 15 or so from Mike Lutz, which means I have more to add to the necklace of doom.

This debate use to often come up in Magic the Gathering. People claimed they were making "proxies" because they didn't want their card to get damaged, often they would conviently forget to trade the original away too, I supose. Dealing with counterfit cards was a serious PITA. Just use the token and be mindful. If you play poker you use the same tokens and people do a fine enough job looking after those.  Thankfully in this game we have very little outright theft to deal with, I had many a card thieved from me in the past.<br /><br />I saw the pic of the necklas-o-doom.  Thats pretty cool, and I've contemplated something similar.
