TOPIC: New 2009 Purple tokens (speculation)

<br />Now that GenCon is over it is time to start plotting for next year.  Historically Jeff rotates some purple token out of the collection and brings some new (or reissued) tokens.  What tokens are you hoping for/expecting?<br /><br />My guesses for incommng:<br /><br />1. Dragon Scale shield replacing DS Helm (I bet we get a 3 year rotation here with the DS items).  The DS shield is just too rare at the moment.  <br /><br />2. Bracers +2.  I really want a set or 3.  This is one of the few items that could get me to increase my token buy from last year.  <br /><br />3. +1 Platemail OR Platemail of thorns (normal platemail + amulet of thorns).  We need a purple fighter/paladin armor in the rotation.  <br /><br />4.  Some sort of missle weapon for Druids, rogues.  A sling of accuracy? <br /><br /><br /><br />My Guesses for outgoing:<br /><br />1 and 2. Widseth's lute and Ektdar's Tools.  Named items dont tend to last long.  <br /><br />3. Hourglass of Imprisonment.  Did anyone buy one of these with the intent to use it?<br /><br />4.  Dragon scale Helm.  Expect rotation in DS set. <br /><br />5.  +2 Scimitar.  There just are not that many druids. <br />

I hope nearly all of the PURPs are rotated out - there should be a nearly-complete turn-over every year.  <br /><br />For incoming:  <br /><br />1.  I think Jeff has said in the forums that the Dragonscale Shield is coming back, so that people can get a Chip version of the entire Dragonscale set.<br /><br />2.  It's a safe bet that the second segment of the Rod will be there next year in some form.<br /><br />3.  I agree that it should only be a matter of time before the +2 Bracers are a PYP.  People that got them have had two years to exclusively use them, it might be time next year for their return.  I'll bet Jeff would sell a record number of tokens as people try to get the +2 Bracers for every class - except maybe Wizards with the Bracelets of the Zephyr.  <br /><br />4.  There will probably be some sort of Plate Armor, but I hope it's something different than the +1 Plate Armor - maybe something that is +8 AC plus something else (like, as you said, a Plate Armor of Thorns/Spikes).  <br /><br />It will be VERY interesting to see what the new token set looks like! 

I'd sure like to see Gearon's Mace make a chippie appearance...!!!  I would not be upset if it never does...but it would be neat if it did.<br /><br />I would love for a MW SLING or magical Sling of slaying to appear!<br /><br />

Rod of Lordly Might - Usable by clerics, paladins, and fighters.  Can be used as a melee weapon, allows user to cast COMMAND once per encounter.<br /><br />Bracers +2 would be kewl, but Mike's right - my wizard will just keep my Bracelets.<br /><br />It would be kewl for Gary and Raven to get Chip versions of their tokens!

  Oddjob would agree with you on that.

My speculation is the retention of the Ring of Wizardry and the introduction of new items to help TD move to 4ed (bracers that dont stack with shields, Cloaks that cant be worn with necklaces and visa versa), assuming WotC is not leaning on them already to convert.  Then again as popular as the event is, they may forever be granted to live in a proximity of 3.5ed.<br /><br />I know I have several ideas when Jeff makes the call out for new items.

<br /><br />I think Gary's token is the only one that isn't in chip form already.  Hopefully it will make it's chip debut this year  =)

About when does Jeff post the thread seeking ideas for new tokens (and rooms) for the next True Dungeon?

There is already enough powerful stuff out there for spellcasters.<br />What we really need is something exclusively for Rangers (esp since I got to play that both times I ran this year - Hooray!- (bard is my secondary class)).
