TOPIC: Build images for app based autodetection?

I've got some time on my hands and thought I'd goof around with trying to see if I can get an app based solution that would autodetect tokens in a photograph, and generate a build list suitable for input into one of the existing character builder formats.

The first difficulty is in having some sample images to work with. I can certainly create them - but I wonder if anyone in the community has toyed around with this and might have a library of some photos of tokens for a build laying around I could have?

When Master Ed was still living Stateside we would have lunch often and this idea came up a few times. Take a photo of your Tokens and have an app that generates a build for you. You might want to reach out to him. Not sure he ever got further than just the concept but it sounded like he did look into it some what.

This feature exists in Cranston’s app if you haven’t tried it. Create a new empty character, press the scan button, press the camera, and snap a photo of the tokens.

This must just be for iOS has I don't see a scan option in Android...but this would be amazing!

Yep, I only have iOS, so I can’t speak to Android.

I tried to make it work on Android for over a year. It started when Google deprecated all camera access libraries. For over a year, they went through different alpha level attempts, then they would not support camera access at all, then they were. More alpha level attempts. By the time I gave up, Google was in their 3rd beta, with no target for release. I still don't know if they actually released an api for camera usage. Google apps work just fine and did through the entire time, but no access was available to developers. Sorry, just IOS for this function.

No worries, Tom -- thanks for all your efforts with Google -- I know it's a pain. Just glad we've been able to keep using Android through the True Dungeon Tokens website!

Oh amazing - I wasn't aware - well probably no need for my idea then!

That's awesome. Too bad I'm an Android user.
