TOPIC: Omni Orb

Hi!

Will Omni Orb work in the CoA recipe? From all my research, I don't see any restrictions.

Thanks!

Omni tokens may not be used in recipes for treasure-enhancing tokens–Legendary or otherwise.

Where is that stated at?

From Token TB:

May be used in a Legendary recipe in place of one Ultra Rare, one Exalted, one Rare, one Enhanced, or one Uncommon token. If desired, you may use more than one Omni token in a recipe. However, each Omni token can only be used as a replacement for one token in that recipe.

It doesn't mention anything about it not being able to be used for treasure enhancers. I've scoured other pages on this site and don't see anything any where.

The description shown in the list generated by a search/filter is often highly truncated. For the full description of any token, please click on that token's name or image.

This is probably opening a can of worms, but I'd like to understand why the Omni Orb can't be used for any treasure enhancing legendary tokens (i.e. CoA).

It seems to me the spirit of the token is to help newer players craft a legendary token that has ingredients that are hard to come by. For the CoA, Recipe #1 is pretty much a non-option for newer players. The horn of plenty is currently sitting at $750 on the aftermarket. Ring of Riches can't be found at all currently.

Recipe #2 can be done, but again, if a person needs 7 points, they could buy a $750 Horn, $350 CGF, and a $350 AMT for a whopping total of $1450, which doesn't even include all the other trade tokens and Reserve Bars. Or they could do 3 CGF and 1 Amulet for a total of $1400. But CoA can be bought on the aftermarket for $1200 with lots of listings available.

Recipe #3 could do 3 amulets for $1050, or 12 beads for $1200, and again not including the 10x Trade Tokens. So again, aftermarket wins.

I've been playing the game for a long time, but until last year it was only at GenCon. So I missed out on a lot of the ways to get these other UR's that go in for this item. I don't believe that most CoA owners spent over a $1000 to craft theirs when they had access to the UR's when they were cheaper.

So, why restrict the Omni Orb? To even craft an Orb is going to cost around $300. I could do 3 orbs and 10,000 GP bars for around $1,000. No aftermarket required. It's not like I'm saving a ton of money or abusing the system.

PYPs haven't been $100 for a while.

I would suspect that can accumulate Bounty at $75 per or less until get to 12. Then, next Bead is coming in a year and floods the market with yet another way to make COA.

Omni Orbs are also not remotely worth $300. I expect no more than $120.

COA has dropped to being no more than $1000.

IMO: Having it fall even further undermines that the token economy is intended to have scarcity as well as isn't to TDA's benefit as it means even more treasure going out where token valuations just keep being devalued. Now, I already think it's pretty easy to make COA for less than $1000, but I view the restriction as trying to maintain some level of stability in its price even so.

Omni orb is significantly more than $100 to craft. Currently at about $250-270 eyeball on auction prices.

to add to this: there will be 2 more beads that deal with TE that I believe are supposed to also be usable in the CoA Recipe. If I am wrong I would love to know this asap as it will change how I try to make CoA

You might want to do some checking, because I've been very much engrossed in current prices, and many PYP's are $100 (or more). Plus, extra beads won't make the beads cheaper because they stack. So the 2025 bead won't make the 2023 bead any cheaper. Same with the 2027 bead. Its just a way to get +6 treasure.

Also, I've never seen a CoA under $1150, let alone $1,000.

I just did the math on current auction prices (not theoretical, what I actually paid for auctions this year) and making an Omni Orb is going to cost around $250-$300. Remember, you have to include a UR in that recipe as well and cheapest out there is $20 +3 staff of some kind.

I'm not asking for a handout or a freebie. I'm willing to put in the work to make a CoA. I thought the Omni Orb was TD's answer to people like me. I'm probably not going to scrounge up 15 beads (because its 12 for the recipe, and to keep 3 for myself). Ring and Horn are mythical tokens no one can find.

So, whats the answer? I will gladly take help in figuring this out.
