TOPIC: Thrown Melee Items (Thor's +5 Returning Hammer of Smiting)

Thrown Melee Items (Thor's +5 Returning Hammer of Smiting) 6 years 1 month ago #1

I have a question regarding using Thor's +5 Returning Hammer of Smiting being used in conjunction with the Ring of the Eel +3 Shock damage with melee weapons and Ioun Stone Infernal Fire Prism +2 Fire damage with melee weapons.

When used as a melee weapon, it will, as TD Character Creator shows, do +3 Shock and +2 Fire damage.

However, when the hammer is thrown as a ranged item, wouldn't it still grant those bonuses as the token merely applies those bonuses to melee weapons (which Thor's Hammer still would be a melee weapon).

It is a ranged weapon when it is thrown.

If a Dwarf Fighter is wearing armor with retribution damage *and* melee damage enhancers, and then I toss the Dwarf at the monster, which type of damage boosters apply?

What you want is a potion of leaping attack.

You do get your strength damage bonus on thrown weapons, so you have that going for you. :)

It also saves you having to make 2 Legendary weapons, as the same one works for both, but you would need Ring of the Yeti for +3 Cold damage for missile weapons. There is no equivalent missile related ioun stone.
