TOPIC: Monster Trophy Set Question

As somebody who foolishly sold most of their tokens after GenCon the last few years, I have a lot of monster trophies from 2014 but only one set for 2013 and 2012. I hear there may be some sort of transmute available in the future that requires monster trophy sets from multiple years. Is there any info on this? Even just speculation. I'm trying to decide if I should pursue multiple copies of older sets or not.

We don't know anything official yet, but lots of us are speculating there may be a story arc relic similar to the dracolich charm after 2015 that requires 2013-2015 monsterbits. Personally I'm keeping a set from each of those years.

Having crafting goods is always a good idea, even if they are old. You could always use some of your extra UR's or R's to trade for your bits.

The 2012 monster bits no longer have a special use (other than being converted into Golden Fleeces).

The 2013 monster bits are scarce due to lots of people drawing from the "relic heavy" box. Not to mention that people who drew heavily from the "trophy heavy" box may still be smarting from missing all the relics and place extra psychological importance and value on the monster trophies they did get.

I'm guessing that any trade of 2014 bits for 2013 bits will be at a fairly steep premium.

So the question will be is it better to pay the price for a speculative future benefit or use excess to make Golden Fleece.

As was noted above, the 2013, 2014 and 2015 sets are very likely to be components of a transmute after 2015.

Monster bits prior to 2013 are useful as collectors items or golden fleece components.

Based on the treasure box idiosyncracies of 2013, the set from that year will probably be the limiting factor.

it might be next year, if it was a 3 year story arc(2013,2014 and then one monster bit from 2015...That is how it has been in the past..one from current year)..now if it is a 4 year story arc, then it will be 2016

It seemed like Jeff was planning this one a bit differently, to be a story arc transmuted token using all the monster ingredient tokens from 2013/2014/2015. Hopefully that will let it be a bit more powerful than recent "4C" tokens. Of course, like nearly everything, the details are subject to change. :)

The party’s 3-year quest is to restore the missing dwarves of Icecrag Keep (the setting of 2012's storyscape) to their rightful home now that Smoak the Draco-Lich has been defeated. In 2014 the party must continue their quest to determine the dwarves’ current whereabouts.

if history repeates itself, there should be a combo transmuted in 2015??

If it requires 2015 monster ingredient tokens, it seems like it wouldn't be available until the 2016 token set.
