I was going through the Token Guide again (for Grind preparation) and came upon some questions regarding artifacts. Some of these were brought up last year but those never got an official answer.
So here is my updated list of questions (which are mainly important for DM's):
#0. Can we get an update on how artifacts interact with each other, regarding both group and individual effects? Last I heard, someone mentioned that Jeff ruled that only one group effect could be in effect, though the exact mechanism for that was still unclear. Thanks.
#1. Gearon's Blessed Cloak.
The cloak is so attuned to positive energy that any successful attack by an undead foe will cause an explosion of energy (good vs. evil) causing the wearer to take double damage from all successful undead attacks. A natural attack roll of "20" from the attack of an undead foe will reduce the number of hit points of the wearer to one (1 HP).
A. Gary has 26 HP. He gets bit by a zombie for 5 damage. That gets multiplied by 2 so he takes 10 damage, leaving him at 16 HP.
B. Gary has 26 HP. He gets bit by a zombie for 5 damage but it is a critical 20. So he goes down to 1 HP.
C. Gary has 5 HP left. He gets bit by a zombie for 5 damage but it is a critical hit. Logic seems to indicate that he would die from the zombie bite, but one could argue that he simply goes down to 1 HP. And if he is at 1 HP and gets hit by an undead with a "20" he simply remains at 1 HP - but that doesn't seem in the spirit of a "drawback."
#2. Smakdown's Charm of Camaraderie
Having such a strong connection to all the party members causes the holder of this charm to suffer half the damage of the first party member to be attacked in any combat.
A. Is this in addition to the full damage that party member takes? Or is the damage split in half between Smak and the other guy?
Suppose Smak and Joe are adventuring together. Joe gets hit for 10 damage. Smak takes 5, but does Joe take 5 or 10?
B. Does the effect trigger if Smak is the "first party member to be attacked?" Or will it wait until the next player gets attacked?
#3. Widseth's +2 Dancing Sword
Normally, the way you get the Mithral set is through combining:
- Boots
- Bracers
- Cap
- Chainmail
- Gauntlet
- Sword
It has been explicitly stated that a Ranger using two +1 Mithral Longswords only gets to count one of them for set purposes.
A. Widseth's Dancing Sword is a different name, however. I would assume that Dennis could use both the Dancing Sword and the +1 Mithral Longsword and that would count as two members of the Mithral set? If so, he seems to be one of only two people who could equip with a Mithral 7-piece (Lazlo being the other, if he uses two of the Bracers together: +2 Mithral Bracers, +3 Mithral Bracers, and/or TaMor's +4 Mithral Bracers).
B. If Dennis has the 6-piece Mithral set, does the dragon-slaying power work on his Dancing Sword (which has a damage wheel of 3-10)? Seems odd that an "8" or "9" would slay the dragon and are actually better than the "10" (which wouldn't slay the dragon). If Dennis is playing a Ranger and is wielding two +1 Mithral Longswords and his Dancing Sword, would all 3 weapons have the dragon slaying effect?
#4. Caitlin's Charm
Previously asked this but still no response:
The character can any spells or special powers from either character and use any magic item (other than armor) usable by both.
A. That should be "either" not "both", right? And by "magic item" I assume that simply means "any token"?
B. Can we also get clarification on whether Cloak of the Archmage, Robe of the Archmage, and Monk's Belt count as "armor?"
C. If David chooses Fighter and Dwarf Fighter, do the two Weapon Focuses stack?
D. When using the Fighter's ability to reslide, do you reslide both tokens if you are also a Ranger or Monk?
E. How does he attack if he is a Monk + Ranger? Does he get to slide 3 times or something?
F. When using Flank Attack you can't attack, but can you do other things like cast spells? I would guess not but just checking.
(So far I think the Druid + one of the Wizards is the strongest combo. Ring of Focus + Greater Mistletoe applies to all of your spells. You can Spellsurge a Fireball or Lightning Storm, and then your Cleric can Zephyr Bracelets Restore Power/Spell to do it again).
#5. Gertz's Radiant Backpack
A.This year, can we get a more official looking piece of paper (signed by Jeff) that lists the items sacrificed by the backpack? Last year, it was just an informal piece of scrap paper. Not that I don't trust Donald, but I imagine newer DM's might have more trouble trusting the word of a stranger about a token they had never heard of before. Printing out a more official list would be helpful!
B. BTW: How long do the effects last? A single dungeon run? A whole day? The whole con?
#6. Golden Apple of Eris
Asked before but got no answer:
A. How does this interact with Questor's Charm of Luck? I would imagine that the penalty would apply even before the reroll (otherwise the downside is too easily averted)? Though then what would happen if you rolled a 1 and then rerolled and got another 1?
B. I assume that only party members who are dead normally can be resurrected? So it can't bring back disintegrated characters or those who have had their soul sucked?
#7. Kubu's Coin of Coincidence
I assume that "slides a 13" means to slide on the portion of the board that has 13? And I assume you only determine this after all slides have been slid for the round (since he could be bumped into or out of the 13 zone)?
#8. Lazlo's Bag of Looting
A. If the bag provides an extra hand slot, I assume that simply changes the available weapon choices (two-handed weapon + shield) and doesn't allow extra attacks?
B. Can Lazlo use two different Shields together?
C. If Lazlo is a bard (without Widseth's Lute), can he use two hands to play an instrument and still attack with his third hand?
D. Can the Bag simulate an armor slot, so that he can combine the Templar Armor with the Plate Mail +1?
