Hi. My name is Druegar and I'm a tokenholic.
  • I dream of winning the lottery so I can buy more tokens.
  • I longingly "window shop" on gamingetc.com for tokens I can't afford.
  • I regularly peruse the token yearbook wistfully.
How does your addiction manifest?

Hi, my name is Persolo, and I'm a growing Tokenholic.

I do the same as you in regards to all three items you stated.

I wonder how I can roll one purple into obtaining 2 or 3 more..

I debate taking out a sign that says "Please pity the noob who has been a student for 4 years, and loans would always kick in AFTER Gencon".

I wonder who I can beg to take pity and just shovel me a whole lot of useless tokens..not so I can have them, but so I can pick out 25 rares, 25 uncommon armors, 25 uncommon weapons, etc..just to have the trade token capacity to MAYBE make a combo item next year.

I dream of being able to do what friends do for me each year I play...loan a few purps so that they can survive a dungeon on NIGHTMARE! :-)

You're right..that was fun. ;-)

Hi, my internet nom de plum is The Broasted, and I am a tokenholic.
  • I eagerly await my yearly bonus at work, solely with the intent to blow most of it on tokens.
  • I spend many a night clinking through my collection, sorting them into manageable bags.
  • I have a token chest large enough that I was not able to get to it while I was recovering from surgery (due to its massive weight).
  • I have started my children on the addiction by giving them a basket full of commons (drawn from the Treasure Map chests) to fight over.

Hi, I'm Morningstar, and I think I'm a tokenholic.

See, I have this thing I do when I find a new hobby. I dive in head first and embrace it wholly. If I do something or get involved in something, I want to do it 100% to get the full experience.

Before I showed up for GenCon this year, before I had done my first run, I had purchased an Ultra-Rare packaged from the site and cherry picked a couple of UR tokens off of eBay for my chosen class, the Ranger. In total, I had 4 URs and was completely decked out in Reds.

Like Druegar, I longingly stare at all the upgrades I could snag from gamingetc.com.

I also regularly run over to eBay and check out all the newly listed tokens, hoping to get the early bid in on what I hope to be a good deal.

I've also stopped myself from nerd-raging on the many 2012 Token threads, selfisly wanting to suggest the reprinting of tokens I want (Mithral Chain, Mithral Gloves, +1 Mighty Longbow, I can haz dem nao Jeff??)... just so I can PYP them when I inevitably order 2 or 3 Ultra-Rare packages this year.

With the idea that the strongest will be the best one to take through the dungeon with you?

I forgot one of mine...My mind tries to boggle at what would happen if I acquired a HoP, or an AoW...and cannot. The explosion of pure awesome would certainly flatten a planet.

Hi I am brimstoner and I am a tokenholic.

That journey beginning with one step is so true. My first steps began when I bought a couple extra packs many years ago. I then bought a couple more a year later. Then I bought an UR pack the year after. I took some years away from the game and came back this year thinking that I may buy a 10 pack from Gencon and I did so. Then after coming back I found it in my budget to purchase a module pack this year after some creative accounting. And despite this massive purchase I am still finding bits and places I might save to purchase maybe just one more UR pack. Yes my friends addiction is an beautiful and terrible thing.

Hi - I am the archmage Grekel! I have no addictions of whic I am aware. The last person who attempted to increase my awareness of such things is now a toad in some redheaded kid's terrarium. I can stop buying tokens anytime I darn well please.

You too can learn the art of denial by taking the free introductory course to my larger life lesson plan entitled "Yes, it bloody well IS a river in Egypt, and who asked you anyway!?" If the subject matter is to your liking additional lessons may be purchased for a negotiable amount in TD gold, Trade Items or Ultra Rares.

Thank you,
Good Night,
and
Good Luck!

They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

Hi I'm sonofrich. I KNOW I'M ADDICTED. (just read my sig!)

It all started about a month or 2 before GenCon 2010. I was trading D&D minis on another forum. When I got an offer to trade minis for "True Dungeon Tolkens." After checking out the site, I figured they'd make great visual effect for my 3.5 D&D Group.

Well it's about a year & a half later & I've collected most of the Gold chip tolkens (minus UR), a good start on completing most of the plat sets, & just scratching the surface on the woodies!

Between Ebay, Trades & 1K order X2 I've spent @ least 5-10K so far. To top it all off, I didn't make to Gencon yet. (Here's hoping 2012 will be the 1st year.)

Plus alot of what MorningstarZero said:

See, I have this thing I do when I find a new hobby. I dive in head first and embrace it wholly. If I do something or get involved in something, I want to do it 100%100,000,000% for me (darn ocd) to get the full experience.

...

Like Druegar, I longingly stare at all the upgrades I could snag from gamingetc.com. I'll 2nd that!

...

SAVE ME!!! SAVE ME FROM MYSELF!!! & our credit cards!
Farewell 2 those Whom helped make TD 2012 AWSOME!!
