TOPIC: Buying after Gencon?

Will packs bought after Gencon have treasure maps/fragments in them? If so, I know they say 2011 on them - does that mean they will be worthless for next year?

my best guess would be yes..except to collectors

Since there will be a significant quantity of Treasure Maps sold after GENCON, I hope the Treasure Boxes reappear next year. Personally I hope that there are Treasure Map Tokens in the 2012 set

Jeff - Cool, I will keep an eye out for the decision!

So 2-3 people and myself are planning to do TD for the first time next year. Any advice on accumulating tokens? I figured we would pool together, buy some of this year's packs and work on buying single tokens that seem useful and are low-ish cost over the year, and then buy more of next year's packs. Is that a good way to go? Do people on the forums here sometimes put together something like a newbie pack that we could buy? Are there any must-have tokens that are low-moderate cost?

There have been people known to put together starting packs of a sort. You'll find that people on the forums here tend to be helpful as far as pointing new people in the right direction. It probably couldn't hurt to buy some of this year's tokens. Now I will say that a number of this year's tokens have an underwater theme that may not carry to next year's story arc. This is year 3 of a 4 year story arc. Next year the parties will face a draco lich. We look forward to seeing you next year!

On the same (or at least a similar) topic, there are still 4 GTs out there, are there not? What about those who pull them?

Unless they are pulled before the GT run, I'm guessing they will make nice collector's items (and they will be nice collectors items, since all the GT's are handed in when you do runs, so they would be the only four actually in circulation).

Great to hear - maybe I'll get to keep mine this year! (I wonder if I can get Jeff to give me mine from 2008 also).

I think anyone pulling one after the fact will cry, a little bit..... Or a lot.
