Anyone know what the effect is this year? or do we have to wait until the con.

We will use the random dice again...with the big cool benefit being you get to run as a 5th level character.

While I don't have an amulet of wonder... And so maybe should keep my 2 cents... I have to say that the level five benefit isnt really that cool... And I imagine most amulet of wonder owners will opt away from it...

I mean how many AoW wearers aren't going to have the might set equipped?

Not trying stir trouble or poke a badger with a spoon here... Just sayin....

I tend to agree.... 5th level as this year's single predetermined "Cool Effect" would work out fine- users would be able to plan their token loadout ahead of time.

If the die is rolled instead, perhaps keep it like last years, or a different major effect.

Well I think it is a pretty cool effect, out of our group of 10 only three of us have 3 or more might pieces, that leaves 7 of my group more then happy with the AoW. I may even keep it myself, if I roll that effect, I can put away the Scepter and Orb of Might and use the two Ultra Rares that I actually want to use, +2 Long Sword and +1 Mithral Long Sword!!!

Running as 5th level character is a really cool benefit, especially since I don't have any Might pieces. I am disappointed that it's another die roll. Nothing new.

My idea was psionics - how awesome would that have been?

Oooo! And the psionic power could be on a button!!!! That woulda been cool... I guess my initial comment was based on having to change the token loadout at the last minute... And for me that would have meant trading tokens among group members... I forget how many purps are out there!!!

Okay, so that begs me to ask the question - if one already is wearing a might set, and roll "5th level", will they have the ability to re-roll or does that effectively kill the neck slot?

I know that last year 2 of 5 coaches I had personal experience with did not let people change any of their gear after the AoW roll. The other 3 did it in (my opinion) a better way: allowed people to change OTHER gear after the roll but not the AoW.

As far as I'm aware, that is the correct way to do it. If you roll for the AoW, you must use that as your neck slot; but you're free to outfit yourself otherwise.

If I'm not mistaken, the way the AoW should be handled is the roll is made prior to filling out the party card. Thus any equipment changes would be acceptable with the exception of the AoW(once rolled it is in play).
