TOPIC: What's it worth?

What's it worth? 14 years 6 months ago #1

Lately I've seen a lot of people mentioning the Ring of Regeneration being used in auctions. This has lead me to wonder, what kind of worth does this token have when compared to other tokens?

Does whether the token is a chippie or woodie matter, or are they viewed by most of you as equally valuable? I'm interested, since it seems like this year far more than any prior year it's been brought up.

I think you're seeing it mostly for pure collection filling purposes, so to a limited number of people it's worth quite a bit because it is one of the rarest UR's there is... that said, with the availability of 1pt healing power-wise I think few well equipped players would ever wear it, so game-wise it's not as valuable.

So, to some it's a fairly high-end UR (if talking dollars say $200+), but to others, it's a low-end UR say ~$100. It depends on what your reasons for wanting it are.

I think that some people prefer the chip version, but the truly rare version is the 2004 wooden version - to me it's the most historically significant one too, since it is the first Ultra-Rare Token (along with the Ring of Three Wishes, also from 2004, which only a handful were made and very selectively given out).

I agree it is more of a collectable, but it is quite a collectable, and I think as the years go on Tokens such as this will really rise in demand.
I think most people prefer the chippy Ring of Regeneration because I've been trying to trade my woodie for a chippy for a long time with no success.

You are probably right - I know I'm in the minority in wanting to collect the wooden tokens - the VAST majority of collectors don't see to want any wooden tokens at all, only the Chip tokens.

i'll take wooden tokens in trade. in fact, if it is the one/s i'm after, i'll trade rather well for them.

I'm also interested in wooden tokens, of course. I'll vouch though that if you've got a token Smak is looking for, he'll give you a better trade for it than just about anybody else =)

I traded all of my old 03, 04 woodies to smak ages ago. I should have kept them longer and then gouged him more on the trade.

Yeah, it's been a real challenge trying to complete sets of 2003 & 2004 Tokens (and even 2005a Tokens). Even though there are just a few collectors looking for them, those few collectors traded for most of the available ones before I ever started looking to complete wooden sets. Still - if it wasn't a challenge, where would the fun be? =)
